With July only 3 days away, this is when trade rumors and speculation starts to take off.
Feel free to post anything about any team.
Several teams interested in A's ace Sonny Gray. Cubs, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Mariners and Braves (WHAT????) all have sent scouts to watch him pitch. No Yankees who need pitching help the most.
San Fran is said to be huge sellers this season. The only untouchables are said to be SP Bumgardner, C/1b Posey and SS Crawford. They could get a huge return for SP Johnny Cueto and Closer Melancon. Cueto has already said he plans to opt out of his deal this offseason and be free agent. Brandon Belt might also catch a good price.
Any thoughts or other rumors?
Agreed. They have a young corp of hitters. kind of like when he was with the Royals.
I think adding bull pen help is gaining ground. Pen almost blew it last night again. After Chapman and Betances its getting scary.
I have been on the add SP bandwagon since the season started. But last nights 6-1 lead in the 9th which turned into a 6-5 win was not the first time out pen (other than Betances and Chapman) has blown it.
No one is saying too sell the farm but you can get a solid arm for a good price. Stay the course...
young Outfielders:
Hicks
Fraiser
Judge
Florial
Williams
Fowler
Rutherford
Where are you going to play all these guys??
That's 7 OF's for 4 spots (3 starters and 1 reserve)
Now I know that Florial will not be ready for a few years but You can package Hicks (who I love) and say Williams plus a inf prospect (not Wade or Torres) for a starting pitcher and still have a future of
1b Bird
C Sanchez
2b Castro
SS Didi
3b Torres
OF Fraiser
OF Judge
OF Rutherford
Utility Wade
and compete now as well as later.

Teams will be asking for the moon for even a mediocre pitcher at this point. This team is still not a finished product. Let this team learn and grow and fight. Don't give away assets right now. Bring up the kids. Let Wade play, bring up Adams or Caleb Smith to start a game if you have to. This team is not a championship team right now, but it is headed in the right direction. No reason to make a rash move. Stay the course, keep the faith and develop the kids...don't trade them.

You are going to need someone that loves Hicks to make that work and as much as we are thrilled to see him playing in 2017 the way he has, I'm not sure another franchise will look at his line and buy high on him. Good in theory but i'm not sure it is realistic.

That's why you package him with a mid range prospect or two for a solid (notice not I did not say top line) pitcher. One that may give up 2-3 runs a game but will take you at least 6-7 most starts to get to our pen.
Unless they suffer another injury I don't see the point in pursing another mid-rotation pitcher....we have enough of those already.
Florial has amazing potential as does Rutherford. There are some names at the lower level that may be talked about more in the coming year or two. Gary Denbo and the Yankees brass have to be proud of the dramatic turn around of our farm. We have some good talent that can be cost controlled for several years. It will be a matter of keeping the right combination and moving the right pieces or losing them in Rule 5 draft.

sevirino and montgomery will have i nings limits. and extra arm helps bug time, plus if he is under co tract for 2018 it helps si ce 3/5 of the rotation is a fa.
You do know that Didi doesn't capitalize both D's, right? I wouldn't expect accuracy from you in general, but this is a situation where you're putting more effort into getting it wrong than it would take to get it right.

Must learn what they have and don't have, are you willing to stay with Castro and DiDi as our second baseman and shortstop, That is why getting players here and seeing how they respond is what is most important, I am not sold on Castro, and DiDi is not ever going to be a high on base percentage guy. What happens when they stop hitting, hit a slump, can they get out of it, I like DiDi more then Castro at this point, I will say that, Castro is not a very good defensive player on top of an impatient hitter that can be pitched to every time with low outside breaking balls. He lives off mistakes. But he may still develop, this is the time to find out about a player. Now with things going bad. I am not interested in selling any of our top prospects, this season should be all about development and development only. The team is plenty competitive, it's time to straighten out the 40 man roster and start getting players up here to compete. The players that are ready.
Basically, two players who are pretty set at their positions right now are the ones you are questioning? Both Didi and Castro are more than adequate and guys you want to have as starters.
