White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana (4-8, 4.69 ERA) is slated to make his 16th start of the season. The 28-year-old has a 2-2 record with a 4.35 ERA in four career starts against the Yankees but has yet to oppose them this season. Quintana has struggled this season since inheriting the role of staff ace from left-hander Chris Sale. He is averaging 3.3 walks per nine innings, which is the worst mark of his career. However, he has improved recently with a 2-1 record and 2.25 ERA in his past four outings. Yankees right-hander Luis Severino (5-3, 3.30 ERA) is set to make his 15th start of the season. During three career starts against the White Sox, he is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA. Severino will look to bounce back from his worst outing of the year. He allowed six runs (five earned) in six innings his last time out against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The ugly performance was out of character for the talented 23-year-old, who has 24 walks and 95 strikeouts in 87 1/3 innings. |
Just throw a first pitch DP ball please
Judge almost killed Toe
3-2
No margin.
What a move by Girardi. Bases loaded, no outs. B8.
Bring in Clip Joint?
hahahaha! Huge balls.
Who's pitching the 9th??
Fuck it throw Chappy or Delin
Betances 25 pitches last two days
Save Chappy for tomorrow and use Delin ... idk 😐
I can't believe the change wasn't called two pitches earlier at 1-2. Absolutely amazed.
A better hitter absolutely blasts that 91 mph meatball to Peoria.
Think they want Green to get 2 days rest for now in the pen between outings

Gotta say that they'd been overcalling the changeup during this terrible streak for Clip. Tonight they used it to set up the fastball. Much better. Hitters were sitting on the change.

If you're waiting on the changeup the FB looks like it's 96. That's why they were late on it routinely last inning.
Know your role!
Know your role!
Maybe Tyler Austin should have started and pitched a no hitter with 27 strikeouts.

Clippard gets the middle of the order with bases loaded nobody out, while Betances gets the bottom of the order in the 9th, just because he's the "closer" today.

Probably would have. You see that walk he drew tonight!? Could a scrub do that?
