is going to watch a movie based on who the director is?
Yes, to an extent. But isn't this the same as any other war movie with a 14 year old?
Their demographic is all adults though so it doesn't even matter. Plus it will see good sales in iMax. It won't break box-office records or anything but I'd be shocked if it "flopped".
I don't know if anybody else here ever read this book by the same guy that wrote Lassie Come Home, but there's an unforgettable tie in to Dunkirk in the story line.
of viewers do not really know what happened there. If you want to get an idea of how many, just start asking random people which president's nickname was "Ike."

no, I was actually kidding with the request.
RE: I hear this is a prequel to Saving Private Ryan
She likes "movies where shit blows up," as she puts it.
Haven't heard any buzz on this one yet.
By the way, we saw "War for the Planet of the Apes." (no spoilers) Very good. Not what you'd think a movie with that title would be. It's very intense, but not wall-to-wall action. It's a genre mashup where the real focus is on a few characters, mostly apes. That works way better than you'd think it would.
Woody Harrelson is VERY good in a role that could have been a cartoon. He makes that guy credible. And the performance-capture work by Andy Serkis and the rest of the people playing the apes is off the charts.
Dunkirk is a forever testament to the will, guts and heroism of the British, especially those who took their small boats, fishing scows and anything that would float to bring back their soldiers.
I hope the film does that justice. I will find it hard to beat any of the documentaries out there on Dunkirk. Netflix, has them.

Bootleg or advanced screening or what? War comes out in a few weeks. Very excited to see it.
Dunkirk will be good, how good is the question.
That's word of mouth from 14 year old males whose initial reaction will be "What's Dunkirk?"
The Germans end up losing the war. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm not sure the US audience will be interested. We'll see. I think word of mouth the first weekend will be key.

14 year old males know who Chris Nolan is. That should be enough to get them in the Theaters.
There's no hiding from this, son.

Absolutely! My son has been reading books and seeing movies based on exactly that since he was 12, he's 18 now!

And a sequel to "The Seven Samurai"

I don't know, but either way you should watch it. Maybe you will learn a little respect for their situation.
Only if you call a full out retreat, leave everything behind, and get out with only the clothes on your back, a win.

I did when I was that age.
Harry Styles is in it.
