good luck fielding the "OBJ comments are confrontational" posts that are sure to follow :-)
Victor, I actually have a different take on Beckham (which I cover in the upcoming podcast). I don't see this as a team distraction (media and fan distraction, but I don't think the team is overly concerned). I also think Odell knows exactly what he is doing. He's playing the press, using them to generate publicity that is landing him big money (see Nike deal) and laughing all the way to the bank.

Could be. He's not a dumb guy and he's very motivated to be successful. I just hope that OBJ Inc doesn't sink NYG LLC :-)
As I said in the preview, there is always going to be a media controversy with Beckham. The media will make sure of it. That bridge has been crossed and there is no going back.
IMO, the BIGGEST story line heading into camp on this team is this: what does Brandon Marshall have left in the tank?
If Marshall is anywhere near 2015 Brandon Marshall, then this offense is going to be sick. If he's no better than Victor Cruz, then we'll be sick.
Ereck Flowers and the OL is an important story line. The DT spot opposite Harrison. The kicker. Etc. But I think Marshall is the #1 thing to watch.
I agree Eric and would add Engram to that.If he is indeed that missing
seam threat and is just an adequate blocker they will be impossible to deal with.
The question that remains to be answered: if all this comes true, they have the 2015 model Marshall, Shepard takes the next step, Engram is the real deal, Vereen comes back and is productive, Perkins progresses, there is only 1 ball. How does OBJ react to "not getting enough looks" as they say?? If your theory is right, it shouldn't be a problem and the team success should be enough. But if it isn't and he's a true diva?..............
Any prediction on the practice squad for this group?
It's hard to know who will fade and shine in camp at this point. It's just a guessing game. But they would obviously want to keep the guys who just missed making the team. I would guess the front-runners for the 6th spot are Lewis, Powe, and Rudolph. So the two of those who didn't make it could be signed. That said, someone may surprise. What if the speedster Lane shows some promise? Teams always fall in love with speed.
of the reasons they may want to hold onto a guy like Powe is that outside of Marshall, he's the only one with good size.
But clearly specials will determine the final spot. Barring injury, the #5 and #6 guys won't see the field other than specials. Hell, Dwayne Harris will probably hardly get any snaps.

Eric,
Can you tell me when the Podcasts are?
Also we plan on being in Ptown the night of Sept 8th. Would be great to get together again for diner!

Egg-zackly. Nicely done, jefe.
What to make of Travis Rudolph fielding the majority of punts in the spring? I figure if the Giants are set on keeping Harris, then Rudolph is destined for the PS.
I really like Powe for special teams. He played a lot of them at Cal - and played them well - until he became a much bigger part of their offense, something I doubt will happen here unless...no, I won't even say it.
Interested to see what Tavarres King can bring. He lit it up in camp and preseason and then came through as a deep threat when given a chance. He always seemed to be the guy catching bombs in preseason practices.
The top 3 is set, but it's nice to be able to rotate King as a Wild Card who can stretch the field. We are going to be damn tough to stop this year.
If D. Harris is the team's KR/PR then Powe as the 6th WR
makes sense. Otherwise, it is T. Rudolph who worked on KR in the OTA's as I understand it.
Marshall seems highly motivated. An 80-1000-10 would be a huge upgrade and would mean we are moving the chains.
And while Shepard may have less snaps this year, I think his actual production will be better, especially YAC. I see 12.5 on the same number of catches.
Was hoping for Terelle Pryor. Although, not sure he and Beckham would have been a good fit. Actually, most likely a very bad fit.
Marshall is a physical freak whose game is predicated on size, power, leaping, route running and brute force more than quickness. He doesn't need to be 2015 but 80-1000-10 is possible, especially if Eli plays that quick hit pass offense which I suspect he'll be doing. Marshall will break at five yards and turn around hauling the ball in, lean for another yards or two.
And he'll be a redzone force you must contend with making things easier for everyone else.
I'm thinking Engram has at least 5 TD's alone; Rhett has maybe 1 TD; Adams has 2 TD's; etc. We have some talent and we'll be using 1, 2 and even 3 TE alignments I bet it so opportunities will be there, watch.
deep threat

Sky King(ok, you have to go a ways back to get it)......
I just do not understand the love affair many on BBI have for this guy....
deep threat

I've thought of T. King as a "lock" since the first WR writeup by Eric where he asked who are our 5th and 6th wideouts. The wideouts MUST be able to play specials. I can see us go 5 wideouts though with Powe, Lewis, etc., on the PS (I think Lewis is eligible...).
OBJ, Marshall, Shepard, King, Harris are in my mind locks. King and Harris are too key on specials not to make it.
But you have to like King's deep speed. Insert him here and there and let him fly.
deep threat

If he takes the air out of offense like he did last year....because the defense was controlling the game....we might see some discontent.
A rising tide raises all boats.
All the WRs should have enough production if McAdoo plays it straight....let the offense dominant even when the defense is controlling game.
Will he play full throttle? I hope he does

With KOs going into the endzone so much and his need to help out in the passing game diminishing, he is an expensive luxury to have.
You get a rookie or UDFA that show themselves to be a reliable resource as a gunner/punt returner and Harris is exposed...

Tampa was one team mentioned and so was Green Bay. I think all of the top 5 teams are close in terms of talent.
So will our OL improve enough for us to truly take consistent advantage? Maybe...time will tell.
And he'll be a redzone force you must contend with making things easier for everyone else.
