So let's see... the Mets finally get a lopsided starting pitching matchup against the Nats in a night when they were resting Harper and the Mets lineup was full.... what happens? RAIN OUT! Mets still waiting for an answer from Bartolo Colon. If he returns, was told there is a good chance he would be placed in the rotation.
Jeurys Familia is expected to begin throwing during the All-Star break.
The balls are seriously flying out. The juiced balls this year suck. Some of those weren't even full swings.
I don't get it. Knowing how to slide is something you learn in fucking little league.
From what I saw, which was not the whole game, I thought Jake pitched very well. Sure, got dinged by the homers but at least one of them but these homeruns are ridiculous.

He is one of the main reasons why the Braves are hanging around.
I'm all-in on trading Duda if there is a good return

Im ok with letting Duda go to the yanks
If the price is fair make the trade. Maybe, if you have to, add a slight premium to trade in the division or to a rival.
Especially with a guy like Reed who is a FA after the season and free to sign anywhere.
WTF? when did that happen?
Conforto activated.

Probably happened when he heard about how much the Knicks gave Hardaway Jr.
For most people who have this it's a one time deal. They'll probably restrict him from playing for 3-4 weeks. But if he has more bad spots on his lung, it'll happen again and he'll eventually need surgery to remove them.

Now this is a good response.

Yup! I even said the Braves would hang around .500 until the all-star break with a chance of improving even further in the second half with some call ups. I pretty much nailed the division except for the Mets. lol
I would pay hard earned money out of pocket to release Edgin, Salas, and Bradford. Neil Ramirez has been good the last few times out and has a history of success so maybe Warthen fixed him. Some of these guys are complete garbage though. Robles is coming off a couple of nice appearances in Vegas. Call him up.

I agree with this.
Yours truly,
Michael Conforto
Daniel Murphy
David Wright
Lucas Duda
(Dominic Smith on the cusp) (since 2000 draft).
in that same time frame Cards have Yadi Molina, Colby Rasmus, Matt Carpenter, Matt Adams, Kolten Wong, Steven Piscotty, and even include deJong though it's early to put him in Canton.
Unless I'm missing some superstars for the Cardinals doesn't scream to me wow those Cardinals are crazy good drafting position player and the Mets are so awful at it.
I'm not a draft expert like some of you but this is the last 17 years from my quick scan.
I knew Wilpons were waiting to use Rosario as a ploy to boost ticket sales once they are officially out of it. Stupid owners.
Work the phones, Sandy. Lots of AL teams are still in the race

PJ not looking to argue Mets vs. Cardinals but 2 points
#1 Yadi Molina is likely a future HOFER
#2 Not really sure why but Matt Carpenter is beyond underrated. He's one of the best players in baseball by almost any measure. Since his breakout 2013 season he's 15th in fWAR barely trailing Robinson Cano and Anthony Rizz0
#3 Jon Jay belongs on there. He's not a great player by any stretch but career 104 OPS+ 3 seasons of 2+ fWAR, 3.5 in 2012

No argument from me even if you recognize Molina's HOF path (which sadly Wright was on pre-injury), Carpenter's underrated status and add Jon Jay, the disparity while acknowledged isn't one that seems as stark as spike was making it seem.

thinks Rosario will be called up after the deadline. Strange rationale being the fans will have something to be excited for once the Mets deal the vets. I hope the dealing vets part is right more than I care about what date Rosario comes up.

I just hope they actually sell off players. They are awful and have no shot at making the playoffs. Don't sell us BS. Sell off, please.
Nido had an awful start to his season, hot may, poor June. He's likely not in the mix for anything until this time next year.
He's really stunk this year and cost himself millions of dollars.
He's really stunk this year and cost himself millions of dollars.
I still think that he is going to get a big contract this off-season. Catchers are so hard to find and he is young enough where teams will likely bet on him bouncing back.
Rosario not far behind him in hits and in his own right is OPS-ing .839.
For the record, Lucas Duda 22 year old season was in STL (Advanced A ball) and he OPS'd .755
Of course Vegas has it's advantages (of which I have railed against on here) and Duda definitely had a more projectible power frame at 6'4 255 but my point is I am not worried about Smith's power I think it's time to deal Duda, Cabrera and ideally Reyes, and call up Smith and Rosario.
changing of the guard time.
Half the Mets fans on this site were clamoring for the Mets to trade for Vogt and he was flat out waived by Oakland and claimed by the Brewers.
I'd stick with Rivera and TDA, unless a surefire option presents itself. There are like 8 catchers in all of baseball with a > 1.5 WAR.
and right now TDA = Lucroy, both awful.
I have to admit it's a little frustrating the Mets aren't ever in on the can't miss bidding war guys like Vlad jr.
You will miss on some of them, no doubt about it, but I think fans get that and for a team like the Mets it shouldn't be as catastrophic for legit small market teams to miss on an overpaid IFA. trust your scouts, and get aggressive.
They aren't bringing him into this environment yet, that's all it is. Nothing to do with tickets, that's silly.
this is a season from hell.
was there ever a diagnosis on Szapucki?
