I know I'm in a minority here but I'm a fan of Francesca and am sorry he's leaving in December. One of the reasons is that I think the alternatives are either bad or suck. Evan Roberts & Beningo are bad. Michael Kay and his group suck. Steven A Smith really sucks. According to today's Star Ledger, Christie is a strong candidate. Apparently, when he subs on the station, ratings are good or very good. He's got a name & a personality and that's part of the draw. I can ignore the fact that he's a Cowboys fan but the guy is a complete asshole and a bully and a general all around douche. (I know some of you may think that of Francesca.)
I think if Christie got that job or any job on the Fan, I would boycott the station after being a regular listener since day 1 when it started . Do you feel like this or am I in the minority here as well?
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Chris Christie is not just a waste of space, he's a waste of oxygen.
This
WFAN has been making stupid decisions for years now by hiring the hosts that they have. Other than the Sunday AM baseball guy (superb, and very good guests), and Roberts, who I think has ok commentary--pairing him with Beningo is a little along the lines of pairing McDonough with Girardi, an anchor--the rest of them are loud-mouth wannabe Francessas.

The last 5 days of Boomer & Carton were great. Carton was on vacation so we didn't get 2+ hours of soap opera. For 2 days we had Boomer & Phil-and boy, they were great. They didn't just talk football but all sports.I was impressed w/Phil's overall sports knowledge! Last 3 days of this week we got Mark Malusis & Kim Jones. They work very well together as a team, very knowledgeable on all sports(I wish Kim were back on YES) & as an added bonus,Minko did the updates.Five days of real sports talk & a large % of the phone calls both teams received was about how much people were enjoying their presentation. But, they'll probably build a bridge w/Fucking Christie because of his controversy & overall ability to be an asshole!
I will never, ever, tune in a single time to listen to that fuck Chris Christie were he on the air. Whenever he's been a guest I change stations
this.
Not sure why anyone would listen to Chris Christie. His act is so tired and based almost entirely on pugnacious bluster. "You don't like the Cowboys?!" "Then root for the looser Jets. They were pathetic when I was a kid so I rooted for the Cowboys. Okay!?" "You don't like me, don't listen. Okay?!"
Ah, okay, I won't listen.
I listen everyday I use to like joe and Evan but the last few years they have become unlistenable. Evan has to get the Mets into everything and joe has to make it known he's a miserable Jet fan it is painfully annoying.
lol ...
To make matters worse the guy is just impossible to like. I'm not even talking about his Dallas loyalties which in itself is enough to hate the guy. Christie personifies dooshbaggery.
Thursday,7/13 8:00 PM on ESPN
According to Carton and his producer, Christie's appearances are highly rated. But it is amusing how tone-deaf they can be. And don't forget, CBS Radio chose David Lee Roth to succeed Howard Stern on K-Rock (whether that was to give a buffer before O&A took morning drive is debatable).
Nah. "DeBozo", as you call him, is having too much fun torching cars in Hamburg.
I'm also sad Mike is leaving. He gets a worse rap than he should, it can't be easy being on radio for 5 hours by yourself and take call after call. We are taking that for granted right now, because the next show probably won't take nearly as many calls and will probably try to fill time with stupid things (like Boomer and Carton do)
I agree with the above poster who says that hiring Christie says more about the average listener.

Should be the new Mike & The Mad Dog.

Did you see the cover of the post? Who thinks of that stuff.
Part of me thinks with that, WFAN's best move would be to have Christie opposite a credible radio host. Maintain a smidge of integrity while padding their bottom line.
Why would you not believe that? Radio stations have PPM's that give them that data. What would be the purpose of making it up?

Because while Christie's popularity is way down across the board there is a group of rabid Christie haters, not that big but very vocal, who will believe anything written about him that's negative. Even something as far fetched as manufactured ratings from an apolitical organization.
What they seem to forget is that being as good as or better than "Bro, bro, bro, Jets, Jets, Jets Bro, bro, bro Mets, Mets, Mets" is NOT that high a bar to clear.
I like this combo as well. I think Kim and Evan would do as well, if not better. Basically anyone with Kim is OK with me.

Would lose so many listeners if this happen, especially the Giants fans. They do not want to hear this fat douchbag cowboy fan... Marc Malisus and Kim Jones would be good options. I pray it's not joe and evan,

Went to a BBQ yesterday and had the same conversation. Kim and Evan is the best possible outcome - an even-keel approach to Giants/Jets and then Mets/Yankees. Which is probably why we'll get Christie-Beningo.
"Hey Govanah, I know you like to eat, which is why you'd love the menu at ANTHONY'S COAL-FIRED PIZZA"
