NFT: Knicks Chat - Melo to Houston Very Likely

adamg : 7/8/2017 3:16 pm
Per my twitter beat writer crush Big Baby.

Also said Lee has heard he'll be moved if Hardaway goes through unless Melo deal happens. Thoughts on keeping Lee if Melo is flipped?

Getting Qi is like getting a pick in the 5-10 range

For a 33 year old that only two teams seem to want.

Really don't see that type of fortune following the Knicks.

Same, I liked him a lot and thought he would make a nice fit here. I am excited about Frank as well and think he can be a good player. Only time will tell

My only hope for the Knicks to not get suckered on this potential deal is that Griffin had to be very clear with management to not make any trades (including the biggest of all, Melo) until he has signed. I have to believe Griffin wants to be the one negotiating with Houston et al.

Knicks executive leadership is incredibly inept but hopefully they're waiting to find their GM before trading Melo

Then at least we'll have a professional trying to squeeze as much out of Melo as he can or otherwise sitting on him until the trade deadline mid season
The Knicks arent going to wait until he signs

Yeah, I'd hate to miss more opportunities to do deals like $71M for a pretty ordinary player. Can't miss things like that.

This team always does thing ass backwards. Fires Jackson AFTER he drafts, signs THJR w/o a real GM in place...and those are only our latest examples of 20 years of ineptitude.

See. We're fucked. They won't unload some of the dead weight or give him the power he needs to be effective, I'm guessing. What a shit show. You'd figure that even Dolan could recognize something that hasn't worked for two decades and let someone really run the organization.

blueblood, it's not you I'm frustrated with; it's the completely dysfunctional organization we have.
Yeah, that's a bad sign.

There remains mutual interest between the Knicks and free agent point guard Rajon Rondo, per league sources. Both sides are in touch as the Knicks continue to search for a veteran point guard. Rondo is likely one of several guards they are considering. New York has less than $2 million in cap space and a $4.3 million exception to offer free agents at the moment. But the club may create cap space via trade; the Knicks remain interested in trading Carmelo Anthony. There isn't unanimous support in the organization for signing Rondo. But it's worth noting that young players in Sacramento and Chicago have raved about Rondo's mentorship and his ability to assist with player development. The Knicks are looking for a mentor to rookie Frank Ntilikina.

I know..I just realize this franchise is inept and I KNEW they would never be able to attract someone like Griffin..

NO ONE is coming in here to rescue the Knicks.. as long as DOLAN has his fingerprints on this team.. its going NOWHERE

ADeP7 : 7/9/2017 4:12 pm : link
I fail to see how he's sure fire. He had Kyrie. Landed the top pic, and traded it for love. Who the cava seemingly want out. And who he would have shipped out. Traded for old washed up players. Frye Korver added demon Williams. And lucked into having a once in a lifetime player grow up in Cleveland and be willing to come back.

Look at some of the contracts he handed out as well
Hopefully
MookGiants : 7/9/2017 4:13 pm : link
Dolan does something really awful soon where Silver forces him to sell like Donald Sterling. That's the Knicks only hope. Until he dies the Knicks are fucked
Terrible
DanMetroMan : 7/9/2017 4:14 pm : link
Sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Griffin and the Knicks were at odds over Griffin not having full authority on basketball decisions and Griffin preferring to bring in his own staff.

It's not about Griffin (for me) it's about balking at letting him replace Dolan's cronies.
it's mind numbing
MookGiants : 7/9/2017 4:17 pm : link
that Dolan doesnt want to turn over the basketball reigns to an outsider.

Clearly the people who have been there for a while are awful at what they do. It should be a total house cleaning but wont be.

Shame on any of us who actually pay money to go see the Knicks. I did it last year to take my nephew to see Steph Curry, but never again. Until Dolan sells the team I am not going to a Knicks game at MSG.
It really is a fucking joke.
bceagle05 : 7/9/2017 4:19 pm : link
The only reason Mills and Houston have jobs in an NBA front office is because James Dolan insists on keeping them around. God forbid we give authority on basketball decisions to an NBA title-winning GM who has the blessing of Jerry West. Nah, Dolan and his kiss-ass cronies got this...
if fans
MookGiants : 7/9/2017 4:21 pm : link
stop showing up and stop paying ridiculous prices to see the Knicks, maybe thats the way to get Dolan out. It's absurd that a publicly traded company is allowed to be run like the Knicks are. But it continues because idiots (me included) have continued to spend money to see them. I'm not doing it ever again. Hopefully others follow suit but it wont happen. If that building was half empty every night he would be forced out

That's fair. I'm more or less speaking to the people who I've heard been calling griffin a top 5 gm.

is ever coming here with Dolan as owner. It's to that point. And you can't blame them.

Kristaps could reach his full ability and it still wont matter because we're never going to be able to attract a top free agent with Dolan as owner
it also sucks to say
MookGiants : 7/9/2017 4:24 pm : link
but if we're being honest, in all of professional sports the Knicks are without a doubt the worst organization with no hope for the future. The Browns have a better chance of winning a title in the next decade than the Knicks do.

this i dont agree with, gilbert is one of the worst and most meddling owners in sports who wrote a letter killing lebron and kebron still came back...

players dont care about the owners they care about the players...

dolan owns the rangers dkes that stop players from coming? no because the rangers are good...

when the knicks had carmelo and stat, chandler took less to come, jason kidd took less to come...

if the players are here other players will come...
but i will not defend
nygiants16 : 7/9/2017 4:34 pm : link
not allowing a new guy come in and clean house, it is utterly ridiculous...
So we'll trot out a lineup of
bceagle05 : 7/9/2017 4:35 pm : link
Rondo, Lee, Hardaway, KP and Willy, with Hornacek and Rambis on the bench and Mills and Houston at the helm. What could possibly go wrong? And we'll win just enough to stay out of the top five.

it is sad knicks can get any gm or oresident they want but dolan needs his lackies in the front office...

they actually have young players to build around and could have a nice future

LeBron came back because he loved Cleveland and wanted to win a title for his hometown.

If he wasn't from Cleveland, he never even thinks about it.

And Dolan is a significantly worse owner than Gilbert.

Players don't come here. One did and he wasn't coming unless the Knicks traded for him because he wasnt waiting until free agency.

Years and years of striking out on free agents. Players don't want to come here because of Dolan. He has created an awful toxic environment around the Knicks that no players want any part of

players because the team fucking sucks...

if the team didnt suck players would come it has nothing to do with dolan...

how do you explain the rangers being so good?

is dolan a fucking moron? absokutely but he took a step back for 3 years and still no one came, because the team still sucked...
so if the knicks drafted lebron

no one would come here to play with him because of dolan?

and the only reason lebron went back to cleveland is becauae of kyrie, had nlthing to do with going home...

need to mass boycott. It would actually work. Dolan would be removed if the stock tanked because the building was half empty for a couple years.

It's never going to happen, but because they are publicly traded a mass boycott would actually work.

that doesnt matter to dolan, for 3 and a half years he was not public enemy number 1, phil jackson was...

that is all he cares about, he doesnt care about the team winning, he cares about his name not being on the back page...
