Can't you? I can. It's easy: Just picture the defense we have now, but with the fourth or fifth-best safety on another team because he was cut, and the Giants scrambling for a backup safety because Will Hill was suspended for the season.

True that. I absolutely loved Nicks. To me, he was complete. Plax was always playing hurt, really respected his toughness. Can add Manningham too.

"get it" and sometimes they stay boneheaded no matter what talent they have. Hill was one of those guys. Damontre Moore was one of those guys.

The ability to mature is an important aspect to having a long career, and Hill couldn't do it. When even a guy like PacMan Jones has straightened things out somewhat, you really have to wonder how dense Hill is.

in his brief career he literally graded out as the best safety in coverage 1 season and was routinely mentioned amongst the best at his position - when he was on the field.

he was "a man" - just not a fat one.

"routinely mentioned as the best at his position"?

Wait a minute -

BA HA HA HA!!!!

On the list of great safeties people have seen in the last 10 years, I'm going to guess Will Hill isn't even getting a mention. If they compile a list of above average safeties, he's probably middle of the pack.

I'd like some evidence(article, news segment, some media) that anyone refers to Hill as the best safety in the NFL - let alone "routinely" mentioned.

What a bunch of hyperbolic bullshit.

"Pro Football Focus had Hill rated as the 2nd best safety in all of football last season for the Giants, as he was held accountable for only 184 passing yards and 0 touchdowns in coverage."

"Hill doesn’t help himself with regular suspensions but he’s just so good when he plays that he keeps cracking the Top 101. This year was no different as despite playing just 724 snaps he still had sixth-highest safety grade, with a couple of really impressive outings in the playoffs. Imagine what he could do if his off-field decision making was as good as his on the field play?"

So he..

It's a crazy statement..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/10/2017 1:11 pm : link
because his level of play has been vastly exaggerated.

He is a very good player, but guys who are considered to be HOF talents are generational guys. Even putting him next to Eric Barry, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, he's probably not as good.

And to put it bluntly, any player who has the ability to start in the NFL has a shitload of talent. Being in the HoF means they utilized that talent for sustained success and high achievement. The difference talent-wise between the 1st ranked player and teh 10th isn't all that different which is why saying somebody has "HoF talent" really doesn't mean that much.

Heck, Brandon Jacobs and Amani Toomer had HoF talent.
Hill - best talent of my time for Giant history
SLIM_ : 7/10/2017 3:01 pm : link
I'm going to say this about him. I had season tickets from 1981 until I moved last year so I didn't get to see Landon Collins's last year. Safety is a position that you need to see in person or on the coaches film.

From the games that I've seen, Will Hill had the most talent than any other safety that I've seen for the Giants. We never had an Ed Reed type talent in that time but in about 35 years, Hill flashed the most.

Had the range to cover the field as a deep safety and bring the wood when he got there. Could play down low and had the inherent ability to flow through the wash.

Complete waste of talent.

The guy didn't keep getting suspended for flunking marijuana tests because he was stupid, he kept using the drug because he was addicted to it, you know, like millions are addicted to cigarettes and can't stop smoking, and tens of thousands are addicted to alcohol and can't stop drinking.

Under the new testing and punishment policies for marijuana - no suspension until the 4th time you flunk and the level of the drug detected by the test has to be about twice as high before the test is called positive - Hill might have played out his career as a functioning weed-head like Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin went through their Yankee careers as functioning alcoholics, often showing up at the stadium with heavy hangovers.

You can argue the law should be changed, but it is what it is. It's like saying it is ridiculous that I can have sex with an 18 year old, but it is illegal to have it with a girl one day before turning 18. Or a myriad of other examples.

- It's ridiculous you can legally pay for sex 5 miles outside of Vegas but it is illegal to do it in Vegas.
- It's ridiculous it is illegal to buy fireworks in North Carolina, but a mile away in South Carolina I can!
- It's ridiculous that I can buy beer and wine in supermarkets, but have to go to an ABC store to get harder stuff
- It is terrible that I can buy Drano with no problems, but add a bunch of other shit to it and cook it on my stove and next thing you know I'm facing 15 to life!
