I was on a layover this past weekend, and as I walked into the hotel from a run, I noticed a 50-something year old man in full Marine Dress, sitting at the bar with some women around him. He was seated, eating dinner, wearing his cover. The patch on his arm was that of a Lance Corporal.
Is this likely a Stolen Valor situation? Is there any reason a Marine would wear a cover indoors at a bar, whilst seated? Are there any 50 year old LCpls?
Of course, he might have just been a shitty Marine 😀
Much respect for you guys. N one for people who'd do that crap.

For us outsiders, what does "under arms" mean? Thanks!

An old Marine may wear his old uniform so long as it is correctly worn and he conforms to Marine grooming standards. Eating with his cover on is highly suspect - Marines only wear them indoors when under arms.

With their weapon
DC - grab a pic if you can.
That said, some people get wayyyy too aggressive with this stuff and take it too far. Phonies piss me off, but sometimes what appears to be stolen valor isn't. Nothing wrong with asking questions though.
There's no way that first guy ISN'T a SEAL. Fake news.
I took a pic to send to one of my marine buddies to ask him if it was legit. He wasn't sure b/c the pic was from too far away but he said it was suspect that the guy had his cover on while indoors, sitting, eating, and without arms.
