NFT: Knicks Front Office Question

Samiam : 7/12/2017 10:13 am
I had never given this any thought until this last guy turned down the GM job. And thinking of the guys not part of the Dolan group which would be Jackson and Walsh. When they were hired, were they prevented from bringing in their own people in the front office and scouting? Did each of these guys have to live with a front office full of staff from the previous administrations? - not talking about the coaching staff - just the front office & scouts.
Not certain

But I am certain that Phil had to take Melo to get the job, and was never allowed to say anything, and I will bet anything that is in his contract and with severe penalties. Dolan is controlling everything, it has to be for this to be as dysfunctional as it is.
I could be wrong...

but I though Dolan has wanted Mills and Houston to remain in the FO no matter who the GM was for the past several years.
If the Knicks FO were a Restaurant

they would serve pizza, chinese, italian & creole. The menu would be the size of McAdoo's play sheet. They have too many cooks in the kitchen and they all speak different languages.

What Griffin wanted to do was the smartest thing I've heard come out of the building in a long time.
Walsh

inherited Grunwald. Jackson inherited Mils. It's never been reported if they were "forced" to but it's a safe assumption.

Phil only hired one person for the front office- Clarence Gaines. I'm not sure if it's because he wasn't allowed to or didn't know enough people to build his own staff.

I know Walsh brought on Warkentien but there were rumors that was because of Dolan and CAA.
