Talking specifically about the hamstring. I started with it over 3 months ago in an area referred to as the sit bone. I'm told it is where the muscles in the hamstring come together and attach to the pelvis.
That is where the problem originated and quickly migrated into to meat of my hamstring halfway between the knee and glutes. Through therapy the hamstring muscles themselves feel fine. My therapist says the area where they attach is very hard to get blood flow to help the healing process.
He assures me through time it will clear up. I have resumed running on a gradual basis at the recommendation of my therapist and while I am able to run through the discomfort I'm becoming somewhat skeptical that this is ever going to go away.
I'm a distance runner and it is starting to get on my nerves. My inclination is to run run run but I can't go at it the way I desire because of this issue
Is there anyone out there who has had this condition happen to them and what was the outcome. What do you recommend. My daughter thinks I should have an MRI and after all this time I'm considering it.
I think you'd need an MRI to determine that.
If it is a less severe issue, rest and moderation should help, but hamstrings (even tweaks) are notorious for lingering. I tore my hamstring in college and to this day, long car rides start to make me feel discomfort.

Watch the above link. These exercises should help you.
Well, talk to some skiers, or soccer players (esp women), or football players. Talk to anyone; knee, bank, ankle issues are common. Studies have shown that distance running is a good exercise outlet for many, but not for everyone.
