I have to go to Mexico City for work. I'll be in the Reforma district. Anyone have any restaurant recs? Is the ride from the airpot to the Reforma district safe? Any extra precautions I should take? I'm a little worried about security and safety but I have to imagine there are a lot of tourists/expats down there.
Arrange transport through hotel, don't wear jewlz, be just regular, don't walk alone at night, etc.
Don't drink tap water, use ice, or eat any fruit/veggies washed in water.
Also recommend a travel humidifier and sleep with a little vicks under the nose to block the smell that the air sometimes has.
any Donald Trump hats or shirts there to be safe.
It's alright but for dinner and drinks go over to polonco. Easy cab ride after rush hour and much better atmosphere.
is a great source of info for Mexico. Check out his website.
First, Mexico City traffic is beyond horrible and there is almost no way to get around that part of the experience. I have stayed in the Fiesta Americana the last couple of trips on business and the hotel is nice, though a little dated. Like many of the hotels in the area they have nice restaurants. However, the concierge is incredibly helpful in recommending restaurants and I have felt very safe wandering out for dinners. Rincon Argentino is a great Argentine steakhouse, but pricey.
Too many large sacks of drugs being thrown around which are hitting people in the head.
if you can't consume anything that's touched the water there?
Amazing old ice cream parlor with exotic flavors. Probably best ice cream i've ever had. Link
