Need your opinion about a young Spanish player. A guy a lot of people are comparing to your favorite player Andres Iniesta. What do you think of Dani Ceballos? Real Madrid just bought him from Betis. I watched him at the Euro U21 and he was phenomenal. I've also watched as many highlights as I could. I like him a lot, but what do you think about him? Does he have the potential to be the next Iniesta? Thanks for any help!
Iniesta started out as a left winger, which is part of the reason he can drive past someone in a phone booth. I don't see that same crazy dribbling ability from Ceballos, especially in the final third. A better comparison might be Fabregas... An excellent passer from a deeper position. But even then you've got to be careful when comparing anyone to the group of guys Spain had in those years.
Ceballos is very promising, but I don't think he's doing himself any favors going to Madrid now. He isn't going to play much, where at Betis he was a regular starter. I'm hopeful that Madrid loans him out.
player. Ceballos would be lucky to become half the midfielder. And half the player Iniesta is is still a world-class midfielder.
Thanks! I don't think they're going to loan him out. The original plan was to loan him back to Betis, but Barca got involved and offered him a chance at a starting spot. So we had to offer him first team football. He's definitely not going to get as much playing time as he did for Betis, but with James departure and Zidane wanting to rotate even more this year he should get somewhere in between 1500-2000 minutes in all competitions.
