Reyes is owed nothing and a free agent after the season, Panda is owed over $40M AFTER this season and not to mention Reyes is having a better year (and Reyes' season is awful).
needs to be Cheringtons gloryhole.
As do Craig and Castillo.
Discounting he weight issue, my guess is PS was afraid of Bochy, less so for Farrell.
I think that they already released Craig earlier this year. And I feel a little bad for Castillo, money notwithstanding. He actually is putting up good numbers and looks like he could help a team and play at the major league level. His contract is actually prohibiting him from doing so. I'm sure he likes the money but it's a shame it actually hurts his future.
is not on the Red Sox 40-man roster to avoid having his $10+M annual salary count against the luxury tax.
Like Bill said if they trade him (and eat salary) that would put them at or over the luxury tax threshold (depending on how much) and if they call him up (after adding him to the 40-man) same thing - his salary then counts toward luxury tax.
He's stuck, unless they find someone to take him and his salary, from what I understand.
Hated the Sandoval signing from the beginning......
Mets bought out Michael Cuddyer and Jason Bay and released Perez before the last year of his contract.
but these cuts are easier to make when you're in first place.
They can do both at any time. Please and thank you.
Leaving the Yanks aside - those are some funny gifs. Much as I hate the Red Sox, I guess their fans have senses of humor too.
Is that a joke?

They desperately need a 3rd baseman

So let him go through waivers and sign him to a new prove it deal, don't trade for him, that would be a disaster.
I don't even want to sign him to a prove it deal, he sucks.

The money. He still has the rest of this season plus two more. Guaranteed.
Frazier has actually been pretty good this year, his average has been hurt but a low BABIP. Not a star but a decent hitter and a good defender.
