i dont feel strongly about MF one way or the other, but he is willing to vary the topic of conversation. All Roberts wants to talk is Mets Jets. Fine if theyre compelling. But theyre not.

I don't agree with that take on Roberts. He talks about the Knicks, even though they aren't his favorite NBA team. He talks Yankees. He talks about league-wide topics in the NFL, NBA, and MLB.
He's a huge, massive sports geek. He'll talk about any topic regarding those three leagues.
on WFAN is peculiar for the Giants' flagship station. The Giants can't be real happy about that. When WFAN was the Mets & Giants flagship, it was the same, so the Giants can't plead "Well, now we're Yankees & Giants."
Even considering the market is split among two NFL teams, Giants fans are under-served by their home station.
You know he won't get the spot then. Has to be someone who will whine about the Jets, and the other 2nd class teams in NY, all day long.
Pretty sure Francesa doesn't root for any "2nd class teams" or support any of them - so, why would that be a prerequisite for his replacement?
Because alot of others on the station do. Boomer/Carton, Joe/Evan, Steve Somers. That's the entire day of WFAN shows outside of Mike..
Steve Somers is a Giants fan.
And this notion that all the other hosts talk about are teams like the Jets or Mets just isn't true. It's just some narrative people make up because they know that's who those hosts root for.
I wouldn't listen to Boomer and Carton if I was looking for sports talk at all - their show is barely about actual sports talk. It's just a goofy morning show mostly marred by Carton's obnoxious personality.

I used to listen alot more often and the reason I stopped was the constant talk of the Jets and Mets. So, I just turned them off.
Is that right? I've listened to tons of Schmooze going back to the '90s, and his NFL allegiance seems to me to consist of moderate rooting for both the Jets/Giants, with a slight edge in interest for the Jets.
Have you heard him explicitly say that he's a fan of the Giants (only)?
I don't think the Schmooze is a huge football guy, he's more explicitly and Mets and Rangers fan but I've always gotten the impression that he was partial to the Giants when it comes to football.
I could be mistaken though. I haven't spent a whole lot of time listening to him because of when he's on.
Either way, I don't really care who the hosts root for - in my WFAN listening experience, I've generally felt like they just do whatever any sports talk radio station would do and that's discuss whatever garners the most fan response.
I think when teams like the Jets are a mess, there are so many callers who want to call in and vent about it. It's just the nature of the business. They want to do whatever works best for ratings.
There are so many sports outlets now. I never feel like I need to listen to WFAN for sports talk - I really only listen if I'm in the car these days if at all.

Maybe the team is second class but the fans of the Yankees are not first class. A bunch of entitled spoiled brats that won't watch if they aren't good.

My suspicion is they want to try Malusis and Kim Jones somewhere perhaps in the Evan and Joe slot.
But I suspect it'll be Benigno and either Gianotti or Simms to replace Evan.

Kim Jones is primarily a fill in. She's still gainfully employed by NFL Network.
