Giants top team to land Revis per Bookmaker.eu betting site

montanagiant : 7/14/2017 8:00 pm
Makes no sense to me but here is what they say:
Quote:
No Team -125 (Risk $125 to win $100)
New York Giants +200 (Risk $100 to win $200)
Dallas Cowboys +300
Seattle Seahawks +350
Pittsburgh Steelers +500
Green Bay Packers +750
New England Patriots +1000
Philadelphia Eagles +1500
Field +250

I was thinking about this recently.

It's worth monitoring, imo. Is he in good shape? Does he have the mindset to battle for a position and earn his spot? Can he play FS? Is he willing to accept a prove it deal?
If he's willing to accept

A backup role I'm all for it. Probably still better then every CB on our roster not named Jackrabbit, DRC & Apple.
...

dream team?
I'd bet
pjcas18 : 7/14/2017 8:29 pm : link
$50 on the Patriots to win $500.

Seems like a Patriots move to sign him.
If the conversation went well
djm : 7/14/2017 8:44 pm : link
And Revis gave off good vibes... why not. He'd obviously have to desire a limited role and at the same time show a commitment. If those conditions were met why the hell not.
Can he play free safety?
George from PA : 7/14/2017 8:47 pm : link
He is no longer a top corner
Not going to happen
Jay on the Island : 7/14/2017 8:49 pm : link
He still wants a great deal of money and is delusional about his value. At the right price it would be worth it if he were willing to play a hybrid FS/CB role.
He is so done.
Giant John : 7/14/2017 9:17 pm : link
Burnt toast. Don't sign this guy.

That reminds me. We once had a cb who's nickname was toast.

AKA Toast
If he wants to play
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/14/2017 11:13 pm : link
then sure, but for a guy who's going to the HoF, Darrelle Revis showed an awful lot of Don't Care in recent years.
Y?
old man : 7/15/2017 12:13 am : link
He's somewhat on the 'toast' side, unless last year was total disinterest the last 10 games, which is another issue.
Unless Marshall knows something we don't, then, MAYBE.
The question is would he play for free
adamg : 7/15/2017 12:22 am : link
Because there's no fucking way the Giants are going to beat the Jets 6 million dollar salary. He'd have to take the vet min and get the rest form the Jets, i.e. not get more than he gets to not play.

I don't see a situation where he plays and earns more money than he would otherwise.
Not really interested but
trueblueinpw : 7/15/2017 1:05 am : link
It seems to me that he could a really good free safety. He was always a very physical CB so even if he's a bit too slow to play on the outside he might still have some good years over the top.
This might sound odd
GeorgeAdams33 : 7/15/2017 3:16 am : link
but I would like Revis as a red zone cover specialist. I don't trust his deep speed to cover one side of the field anymore, but inside tight quarters he could be a beast if he comes in fresh. Reese always wanted him and I bet he still regrets settling for Aaron Ross when he could've had Revis if he would've been willing to part with more to get him.
Y?
Giant John : 7/15/2017 4:34 am : link
Let's start with he can't run worth a damn and he doesnt tackle. You still want him? Crazy.
He sucks at this point in his career.

If a vet is signed, make it Leon Hall,
Big Blue '56 : 7/15/2017 7:16 am : link
now 2 years recovered from his surgery. Unless he signed elsewhere?
I saw too many ESPN highlights over the past 2 seasons
Jimmy Googs : 7/15/2017 8:17 am : link
of Revis trailing his guy going into the endzone.

A good bit of talent is still there but not sure he cares to show it any longer for the good of the team...
The veteran minimum for a guy w his
LauderdaleMatty : 7/15/2017 8:32 am : link
Tenure is more than he's worth now. Add to that he's not exactly a guy who has a career fillled with people
Saying what a great leader and/or teammate he is.

When you are a HOF talent none of that matters. The issue is He hasn't been near that level in years. He's made his $$$ and will likely hope injuries make some Team desperate. Even if someone went down I'd hate the signing for the Giants
We've done well with some vet DBs over the years
mfsd : 7/15/2017 8:39 am : link
but not sure if Revis fits that mold, as several of you have said. Strikes me that the ego vs ability at this point of his career is probably too out of proportion
He looked done
UConn4523 : 7/15/2017 8:43 am : link
but that Jets team was also a mess. Revis checking out coupled with being older was/is a bad mix. But I'll leave it to the FO on whether or not he has anything left. I'd be happy to have him here as depth and/or a hybrid role.
not a good tackler
msh : 7/15/2017 12:09 pm : link
so he wouldnt work in the giants secondary at all
the guy was a man shutdown corner but he lost a step and doesnt have the same intensity anymore he is no longer a shutdown corner and doesnt hit or tackle well enough to be a box type safety either

that 6m from the jets means its almost impossible for him to see any money and he has always been about getting paid throughout his career that likely means he could be done for good in all likelihood certainly doesnt appear like he would be happy as a bit player on any roster or lower his value enough to make it worth the gamble
No thanks.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 7/15/2017 12:40 pm : link
He looked done last season.

arcarsenal : 7/15/2017 12:43 pm : link
I think Revis is done - but I'd still be at least mildly interested on a 1 year, cheap deal.

Not only was he not a good tackler, but his last season it appeared as though he wouldn't tackle, avoided contact. May have to do with what UConn said, but why even consider this? Too many red flags, age, lost a step or three, desire, he wants another team to pay his sinecure.
Played for a Crap Team Going Nowhere
Samiam : 7/15/2017 2:19 pm : link
I could understand him going through the motions. Plus, the role he'd get here is way less responsible than Revis Island. I don't think he did badly when he played for NE. Guys like Revis can contribute even if it's muscle memory. And did somebody really write that they'd take Leon Hall over Revis? Really? The only question I have and somebody alluded to it is the question of salary. I'm of the mind that the Jets would have to pay the difference between whet he'd sign for and the $6 he's due from the Jets whether he plays or not. But, I don't understand contracts. Is that true? If so, and I'm sure he'd love to stick it to the Jets, the Giants could sign him for nothing and maybe that's why they're the favorites. That's the key for me.
Can he play free safety?

Imagine if Revis came to NYG and won a Super Bowl?
trueblueinpw : 7/15/2017 9:35 pm : link
Jets fans would see the best player their team ever drafted win a Super Bowl with their arch rival New England and their big brother / landlord NYG. The Jets fans are a tortured people.

He certainly did quit last season.... Based on last year he's done. I'd only be curious if revis wasn't necessarily looking for a lot of money and he would have to convince in the meeting that he wanted to actually play NFL football in 2017. Who knows where Revis is really at.
According to the this article
giantgiantfan : 7/16/2017 2:05 am : link
he is making $6 million this year even if he doesn't play. If he signs elsewhere he forfeits that $6 million. So that means he won't sign for less than $6 million. I doubt he signs for less than $7 million. The 31 year old cornerback, who has already made a ton of money, won a Super Bowl, and is coming off a bad year will not play again unless a team massively overpays him.

That team will not be the Giants. He's done. He has multiple forks in his back.

Didn't know that. So unless Revis has a burning desire to play for pennies while throwing away millions, no...
