What a life and career. Worked till the end. Called Larsen's perfect game, the Giants famous 1958 championship game with the Colts, the Knicks two championships. Interviewed Babe Ruth and Jim Thorpe. Mentored many broadcasters over the years.

Legend

The word legend gets thrown around a lot these days, but Bob Wolff was the real deal. The man spent 8 decades in broadcasting. He called everything from the World Series to the Westminster Kennel Club Show. He called Don Larsen's perfect game, The Greatest Game Ever Played, and the Knicks' two championships. He interviewed everyone from Babe Ruth to Derek Jeter. And his professionalism was unmatched. To the end, despite all of his many accomplishments, he remained gracious, egoless. Never big-timed anybody. Gave a hand up to so many young broadcasters. Bob was already in his nineties by the time we worked together on his book, Bob Wolff's Complete Guide to Sportscasting. He could have easily sat back and mailed it in. But instead he worked his tail off on it. I will forever be grateful for that experience, and for the many lessons I learned from him. R.I.P. to a true legend.

Wolf actually interviewed both Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter, and he called the finals/championship in all the major sports. That's quite a career. RIP
Worked at News12 Long Island Sports when I was 17
