NFT: R. Kelly accused of running underage "sex cult"

Backstage at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California, on May 23, 2015, J. was thrilled that her 19-year-old daughter’s music career was going to make a major leap forward from recording demos and performing at talent shows to the chance of stardom — thanks to the help of an R& B superstar.

“When we got to go backstage with R. Kelly, we stayed there over two hours,” said J. “One-on-one with just me and my daughter and him. We went back to talk about the music. He listened to her CD. He was going to help her with her CD, and I was really impressed with him at first, because I have always been an R. Kelly fan.”

J. said that Robert “R.” Kelly, who turned 50 in January, met her daughter backstage at a concert in Atlanta earlier that month. Soon enough, he’d invited her to fly out to the Indio concert on his dime. J. said she’d heard about past sexual misconduct accusations against Kelly, but wasn’t overly worried. She is a fiercely devoted stage mom — she and her husband of 22 years, Tim, a car dealer, had moved from Memphis to Atlanta to help their eldest child’s career — and was confident she could protect her daughter.

I can't fathom a grown woman entrusting a daughter to R. Kelly

but 19 isnt underage.

I'd have to see a video of him singing "Pee On You," two forms of government ID, a police officer there to verify the whole thing, four or five of my buddies and Neal taking notes, and R. Kelly's grandma to confirm his identity.
Well, I can satisfy one of those demands

Yes. She was 15 and he was 22. It was never really clear how it was allowed in the first place and was later annulled. She admitted to lying in the papers they submitted but that's all you need to get married? Seems like you would need some proof, famous or not.
How
DanMetroMan : 7/17/2017 10:48 am : link
exactly was he found not guilty the first time? Based on being unable to verify when the tape was made? The case seemed open and shut

"The Hannah Montana theory: Adam Jr. reminded the jurors that all of the people who identified the girl in the tape—save threesome-haver Lisa Van Allen—said they had no idea that Kelly and the alleged victim, his goddaughter, had any kind of sexual relationship. Adam Jr. found it hard to believe that this cone of silence could have existed. "You couldn't keep a 13-year-old girl's mouth quiet about having Hannah Montana tickets," he said.

The there-is-no-Santa theory: Smartly neglecting to mention media reports that Kelly is functionally illiterate, Adam Jr. noted that the singer isn't dumb enough to tote around a satchel of homemade pornography, as alleged by Van Allen. Or, if you prefer, he does not "carry around a bag full of porno tapes like he was a porno Santa Claus."

The I'm Gonna Git You Sucka theory: If the alleged victim was really on the tape, Adam Jr. argued, her relatives would have "beat the crap out of [Kelly]." Since nobody beat the crap out of Kelly, it couldn't have been her on the tape. QED."

I don't know why anyone would let their daughter spend even a moment around such a well know scumbag. Still, I feel sorry for the parents.

I am surprised that R Kelly has managed to keep his appearances on mainstream television programs.
