some boxes old junk this afternoon and I find and old ticket stub I must have thrown in there in years ago.

This was Sept. 7th 1986 in the Mezz and the price was $7.69 + .61 (tax) for a grand total of $8.00

Just for comparison what are the going prices for a current Mets game?

A lot of guys never get that chance, I'm glad he appreciates it and has a good perspective about it.

Harvey's opinion is INVALID because he was partying it up in the Hamptons!
Really hoping for Conforto
allstarjim : 7/17/2017 6:20 pm : link
To have a good game tonight. He's working on an 0-8 with 5 K's last two games. Seems lately he's been one step forward and two steps back...so hopefully he can get some good hard contact and drive the ball. I would like to see him attack the baseball tonight. I like when he uses the whole field, and when he goes up the middle and away, but really want him to get after it and pull the baseball with hard contact from time to time as well. To me he's been a little hesitant at the plate.

Also hoping for Cespedes to go deep again, it's been awhile, and we need that homerun stroke back.

Second year that he (Conforto) started off terrific and then have his game go to crap. I just hope he can bounce back for the second half this season, something he wasn't really able to do last year.
Wheeler looking good so far...
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 7:39 pm : link
Still think he's rounding into shape and could have a solid second half. In the least, I think he can solidify himself as a backend option next year.

I fucking hate the Cardinals. My hatred for these shitbirds is up there with the Marlins and Nationals.

Lets beat these fucks.
And the Cardinals lineup has been on FIRE
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 7:40 pm : link
The last month. This is not an easy test.
If you prefer UZR to DRS as I do...
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 7:57 pm : link
TJ has definitely improved at 3B this year. He's only -1 UZR at 3B which isn't bad. He's a net positive at 2B.

I wouldn't be surprised if TJ get's Rooke of the Year votes.
Conforto baby!

He has one job and one job only ...pitch to a LH hitter and find a way to get an out. The fucking guy can't even find the strike zone! He's as useless as they come.

I dont think so. I think TJ is staying there. Cabrera's days are numbered. They are trying to trade him as we speak.

These fucking Cardinals games have been gut wrenching. Well. Looks like we might be getting a complete fire sale after all. I was holding out hope for a hybrid (only 2 weeks ago Sandy was talking about adding relievers) but it's becoming increasingly more unlikely.

We are lucky to get a bag of balls for a replacement level player
And Im sorry but Cespedes has been awful this year...
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 10:38 pm : link
The Mets have a top 10 offense in baseball but it's no thanks to him. Thank you 30 million dollar man. You've given us zip in 2017.
Cespedes
allstarjim : 7/17/2017 10:41 pm : link
Is killing the Mets in the 3-hole right now. Drop him to 5th in the order until he gets right.

He is pounding weak contact into the dirt over and over.

And that was a terrible swing 3-0. I think it was Keith that said you don't swing at that when you are looking middle-of-the-road which he should be doing 3-0.

We need the real Ces back.

At least I did get my wish of seeing Conforto attack and pull a ball and parked it in the right-center field bleachers. More of that, please.

Are we really gonna turn on Cespedes for being hurt all year and
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/17/2017 10:41 pm : link
trying to work through it?

He should want to play, that's his job. Team should have shut him down weeks ago.
Auto-correct
allstarjim : 7/17/2017 10:42 pm : link
That should've said middle-in.
I feel like all year people have been
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 10:43 pm : link
killing Reyes (making 500K) or the forever whipping boy Duda (having a career year).

The biggest disappointments are:

1.) Injuries
2.) Cabrera
3.) Cespedes

I think most Mets fans applauded the signing but when things go bad for him it's just awful to watch. Sure, he can always use the leg injuries as a crutch, but we've seen him play it up and dog it too many times even when healthy.

They did shut him down. For over a month. He came back. He deemed himself healthy. Im not going to speculate but he doesn't even have a wrap on his leg anymore. Supposedly this is the best he's felt in a while.

I'm not turning on him, I think he will turn it around, but they can't keep him in the 3-hole when he is swinging the bat this poorly.

And it's not just his injuries. He has been terrible at pitch recognition recently. He is swinging at balls way out of the zone and watching middle-middle pitches go by.

It's frustrating because I wonder how he is swinging at so many bad pitches. He is getting himself out right now.
And yeah maybe part of it is his nagging leg stuff
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 10:46 pm : link
But who the hell told him to squat 500 lbs in the offseason?

Facts are facts. Cespedes is having a bad year and he's the guy we spent the massive money.

Cabrera has simply regressed to the mean.
Don't get me wrong.
ZGiants98 : 7/17/2017 10:49 pm : link
Im still happy we signed him. I sitll think it's possible he turns it around in the second half.

The reality is we are a number of games under .500. It's easy to see Thor and Familia out and understand why the pitching took a hit. Cespedes, fair or not, is a big reason we are where we are right now. We were counting on him to lead the lineup and he hasn't.

Cabrera is one of the worst players in baseball. He is negative WAR player. I dont think Ive seen a player play this badly on the Mets. He has been an abomination. Throw in that he's a cancer in the clubhouse?? That guy can suck a bag of dicks.
So frustrating watching pros play such dumb baseball
steve in ky : 7/17/2017 10:53 pm : link
How in the world Ces swings at the pitch in that situation is beyond stupid. Even if Terry gave him a green light (which IMO was also a mistake) then he had better be certain the pitch was right where he was looking for it or a mistake pitch he could slam.

Maybe they don't win it anyway but of course we will never know.

Prospect list - ( New Window )
I disagree...
ZGiants98 : 7/18/2017 12:00 am : link
That list looks pretty good. I know there have been a few underperformances (Dunn) and a bunch of guys are out to injury but we will still be top 15-ish next year. When Flexen is 22 you are doing pretty alright although that list likely isn't very accurate or up to date.
