I feel like we've seen enough good out of him to say that he's clearly not right when he's playing like this, and the Mets have totally lost the benefit of the doubt with me concerning getting players through injuries.
Same guy OPSd 1.000 last summer.
Both with bad wheels
Cabrera looks like he's running with square wheels, the fat fuck.
Prospect list - ( New Window )
That list isn't even close to up to date but yes insane amount of injuries and under performance.

Seems like sports stars are mini corporations these days and while yes they are under contract they still view themselves as their own entity and many no longer all buy into the traditional "employer/employee" concept.
In other words a lot of them do what they want, in all sports for many teams.

like they let these guys do whatever they want. Syndergaard says he's not changing anything, Dom Smith has again packed on weight (he's hitting, I'm not hating, just pointing out a fact).

The Mets have (to me) an unseemly situation where a Michigan guy (Barwis) has a business deal with the Mets via Fred (Michigan). They funnel these guys to Barwis in the off-season (the players pay for themselves). Maybe other teams have similar setups (no clue) but it just seems like the Mets in particular need to change the way they do this. Even for "lets just try something else" purposes.
I want him to gain more weight and be a cross between Prince Fielder and Mo Vaughn. Best case scenario. Sure he won't steal bases but he'll hit the hell out of the ball and play a decent 1B.

PJ,
In all honesty my point wasn't a dig at Smith rather it doesn't seem like their training methods/nutrition plans are working as an organization. What is the harm in trying something new unless it's a Wilpon/Barwis $$ situation?
this is no longer a statistical normality (IMO, haven't seen stats).
The Mets 100% need to change things up and if that means ending Barwis and pay them/not pay them who cares, baseball has to come first.
my comment about Smith was simply I don't care how fat he is.
Top three would be great ;)

Phillies and Giants are way too far ahead or below.
