unless traveling with the family and don't have time to stop at a better option.
As far as which is best IMO it is such a crap shoot because some franchises are garbage while others can be surprisingly better than expected.
Ultimately is usually depends on what we are in the mood for at the moment.
I used to work at McDonalds in HS so there is something comfortable in going with a 1/4 Pounder or Big Mac, yet if made well a Wendy's burger is probably the best of the three. And the Whopper JR might be the best of the small value meal choices.
I did have some guests over for a pool party a month or two ago. On top of what I had going on at the grill, I ordered 10 large fries from McDonald's through Postmates for my guests, and it was a hit! The fries were piping hot, and are just as good as I remembered them being.
Wendy's has always seemed like it was slightly more "fresh" and less like something loaded with so many preservatives that it could sit on a countertop for 5 years unchanged.
That said, the last couple of times I got food there in a pinch, I felt pretty fucking crappy afterwards. Not sure why - but it really messed my stomach up.
I try to limit my fast food intake as much as possible but every now and then I'm in a rush and it happens. I'd still eat it (and McDonalds) over BK, though. I've never been much of a BK fan.
Taco Bell over all 3 easily, though.
I'm with Davision on thiis- McRibs are 1000 calories
Of artery clogging glory. And I'll always have fond memories of the quarter pounder with cheese and often with Filet of fish to boot.
Oh to be a high metabolism teen again. Back in the day we used to show up just before the 11:00 closing and get all sorts of free /about to be tossed shit. Before the days when everything was made to order of course.
I order McDonald's fries with no salt. They always have to make some so they're piping hot and crispy not soggy.
Wendy's chicken sandwiches of the three are the best food in terms of on a bun.
Haven't had any of them in about a year though. I prefer chikfila or burger fi down here, or I suck it up and pay $15 for a burger at a sit-down restaurant.
Wendy's varies a lot with locations and time of the day and week.
I often hit Wendy's when I'm on the road as the best of the fast food choices when I want a quick, inexpensive meal, usually but not always lunch.
The ones in the Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse areas, including places like Olean, Batavia, Canandaigua, and Oswego, tend be pretty good on the whole, with maybe one or two exceptions.
And the few I've tried in Michigan (Port Huron and Iron Mountain) were just fine too. I was also happy with the ones in Rutland, Vermont, and the locations in Breezewood and State College, Pennsylvania when I tried them on one occasion each.
On the other hand, the one on North Genesee Street in Utica is the absolute pits. Their weekend employees are mostly terminally stupid. They screw up orders and the food sometimes isn't very good at all. They could do a better job of keeping the place clean, too. I've also had some poor experiences on Saturday nights at the one on Rt. 11 in North Syracuse.
And the service in the one on the big rest stop on the 401 in Ontario, Canada, can be really slow at lunchtime because the place is poorly designed to handle any real volume of customers, a serious problem for a very high traffic location. Most of the others I've tried around Ontario were fine, though, like the one in New Liskeard. My wife and I were happy with the one we tried in a rest area in southern Ontario a couple years ago.
The whole thing went to crap once the original owner passed. I don't see it all much different than McDonald's these days.
I remember in the 70's and early 80's their slogan was "Thick and juicy", and they were. I remember eating them and the juice would run out of the burgers. Now they are often dry as a bone.
A well made Quarter Pounder with cheese is very good. McDonalds fries can't be beat. I do think a well made Wendy's single with chees beats Macs. No idea what they're doing with the fries at Wendy's or BK. I seem to be alone here, but I like the Whooper, still ratherhave Wendy's but I don't look down my nose at the King.
I was at a Wendy's upstate last week and it sucked. The restaurant was dingy and the remodel looked worn out already. The a/c was broken. The food was meh.
McDonald's- Always a burger. Favorite item is the Quarter Pounder- Disappointed when they discontinued the regular Quarter Pounder and made me pay for the cheese I didn't want. I rarely buy it. My usual order when I go is a McDouble, add the Mac Sauce (thanks djm!), and extra onion. And, no mustard on the burger, ever.
Burger King- Original Chicken Sandwich is usually the only thing I get at Burger King. I would get their regular burger in a pinch, and they do offer Veggie Burgers, a nice option.
Wendy's- Back in the day I once ordered, and thoroughly enjoyed a Wendy's Triple. Bacon, Cheese,Onion, Ketchup, Pickle, Mayo only. Do not know if I could finsh one now. Stopped there a couple days ago and got the Son of Baconator, which I didn't know even existed. Cheesy, Bacony Burger. At $4.99.
I bring up the price on the last Burger because fast food prices for anything other than the value menu are ridiculously high, especially compared to other options.
Love their spicy chicken sandwich, french fries, and chicken nuggets. Some of their salads are alright, and their BBQ sauce is excellent.
McDonalds- Like their cheeseburgers and french fries. Good BBQ sauce, as well.
BK- Like their chicken sandwich and that's it.
Haven't been to McD's or BK in ages. I get a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich once every month or 2. If I ate any of this shit even semi-regularly, it wouldn't be good for my weak digestive system.

McDonald's: All about the Big Mac. The McGriddle with sausage egg and cheese was borderline addictive for me. Of course their fries are the best in the biz
BK: 2 Triple Whoppers and 2 large onion rings were my go to. No one's onion rings comes close. Though an ex from Alberta swear by A&W's
Wendy's: Always thought their burgers while good were too pricey. So I always hit the dollar menu: 4 Junior Bacons, 4 chicken nuggets and 2 biggie fries were my standard order. Loved Wendy's fries. To me they were 3rd best behind McDonald's and Nathan's
As far as Roy's fried chicken goes? Depending on location, 20-30 years ago I thought it could legit give KFC and Popeye's a run for their money but I don't remember them ever marketing it
but I used to like their original chicken sandwich as long as it was ordered "fresh off the fryer" only.
At McDonalds I have ordered 2 double cheeseburgers (hold the ketchup and mustard - add Big Mac sauce and shredded lettuce) for 3.33. Basically, a poor man's Big Mac.
I've tried Arby's triple thick bacon sandwiches and they are very good. The BLT is about as good a sandwich as you can buy.
we just got back from a trip to Long Island and we stopped at Chik-Fil-A on the way up and Jimmy Johns on the way back.
We almost always avoid the traditional fast food places. I guess I'd choose Wendy's, but like others have said, they look old and declining to me. I'd probably only order fries at McD and nothing at BK.
Yelp and other apps are awesome at locating places to stop that aren't pure crap.
I haven't eaten at any of them much the past 10-15 years
only when the situation pretty much demands it (everything else is closed, too remote, etc.). Mostly because of dietary requirements, not wanting to eat too much or get too much salt.
One thing I have noticed, the past decade they've done a LOT more tinkering with their menu items than they had in the past. I'm guessing due to competition (although it's possible that the changes are cost driven).
Not sure if it's just me getting older, but I used to really enjoy a Whopper, now not so much. Big Macs weren't bad either, but they feel a lot more processed than they had before. And the Wendy's grilled chicken sandwich seems nothing like what they originally had, which is a shame. Their chili and a grilled chicken sandwich were my go-to when there was nothing else around and I was trying to keep it on the low side.
far ahead of everyone. But I agree that either they have been going downhill or the others are catching up. I put it Wendys 1A to McDonald's 1B, and McDonald's beats them in certain categories.
The most disappointing thing was when Wendy's decided to get rid of the Twisted Frosty. I went there multiple times a week for those babies.
Then BK
Usually depends on location tho. Some suck ass, some are well run and fresher
Used to be Mcdonald's shake until they started making it fancy.
None compare well to In N Out, Tommy's (LA area).

Have to give Roy Rodgers some love too. Roast beef , fried chicken and a fixin bar.
McRib is vile

I'll fight you right fucking now
McD's - Egg McMuffin or a Sausage McMuffin - can't stand any of their other food.
Burger King - Nothing to eat there. It is all garbage.
I don't get why BK's fries are such a joke.
That said, the last couple of times I got food there in a pinch, I felt pretty fucking crappy afterwards. Not sure why - but it really messed my stomach up.

Roy's is an entirely different ballgame. I'd take anything from there over those other three, even their burgers. Done and done.
Wendy's chicken sandwiches of the three are the best food in terms of on a bun.

Most courses have restaurants that serve a nice lunch and usually have a big picture window overlooking the 9th tee, so the atmosphere is enjoyable.
I remember in the 70's and early 80's their slogan was "Thick and juicy", and they were. I remember eating them and the juice would run out of the burgers. Now they are often dry as a bone.
Burger King - the whopper with cheese fully loaded tastes great. Especially if you get a double.
Wendy's - the double is not bad. They like to put mustard on it... no thanks. Their Sea Salt fries are not bad
I was at a Wendy's upstate last week and it sucked. The restaurant was dingy and the remodel looked worn out already. The a/c was broken. The food was meh.
I think so too. I always feel alone on that, but it's like a top 2 fast food item for me.

Fuck route 11 right in North Syracuse's ass.

I am going to Chick Fil A if it is around every time.

Same here - walking distance and my kids love it, but it's basically Five Guys and a cost multiplier.
We still have in MI

McD for breakfast, egg Mc Muffin is tops.
it's about as bad/unhealthy as anything you could choose to put in your body

Sometimes you're in a rush and you're on the road and you need to eat something - that's why they call it "fast food"
Yeah, there are other options, but in some cases it's just the most convenient thing.
I would never choose to eat fast food if I had the time to prepare something better myself or just order something way better, but it happens.
BK = Burgers
Wendy = Frosty's
Other choices better then the above
Rut Hutts = hot dogs
Five Guys = Burger and Fries
Chic Fila = Chicken Sandwiches and Shakes
Road Warrior Picks
White Mana Burgers
White Castle Burger
