All the attention has been focused on Houston and Cleveland as Anthony’s desired landing spots. But on Wednesday, the Blazers, formerly seen as facilitators, possibly stepped up as suitors through their All-Star backcourt. Guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, speaking to reporters at Lillard’s basketball camp, indicated their belief Anthony would consider Portland.
“I think he’s interested,” McCollum told the Oregonian and later, speaking on SiriusXM Radio, said, “If we add Carmelo Anthony, we’ll be a top three team in the West immediately.”
Lillard said Anthony joining the Blazers is “a real possibility,” according to Rip City Radio.

You aren't wrong. We can trade for Lebron. We can see if we can get Curry or Chris Paul(I'm not sure what we have to trade for them, maybe Lance Thomas?) then maybe we can see how Ray Allen looks and just keep Melo. He's a perfect fit with that team.

Derrick Rose is in serious talks with the Cavs on a 1-year deal, sources tell @wojespn and me.

I remember being made fun of so much for saying that Rose is on the Rondo end of his career and will have to settle for 1-2 year deals, but even I'm shocked Rose is settling for vet minimum deals. OUCH! I almost wish Dep was here so he can tell us how Rose is still a top NBA PG.
We're cool now though right nygiants16 and Keith?

Cavs have only about $2.5M of the taxpayer mid-level and minimum salary exceptions left for Rose.

Don't encourage him.

Carmelo
Why would the Nets get Davis for free?
Call it the Crapball lineup

I'd imagine for absorbing their cap room - Davis isn't exactly a high value asset. Would think most teams would prefer the full 10m of cap savings to spend however they choose, but Nets can easily get cut out.

I would assume an asset would be sent to the Nets for taking on Davis? Why wouldn't the Knicks just want that asset for themselves?
Free agent forward Troy Williams is returning to the Rockets, his agency ASM Sports announced today (via Twitter). According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link), Williams will get a three-year contract with a fully guaranteed first year and trigger dates for years two and three.
it could help in the sense they dont have to send anderson to a 3rd team and they can send gordon and some of their non guaranteed out, may be easier to find a 3rd team that way...
OKC gets Melo and Oquinn
Knicks get Kanter who more then likely opts out next year so it's expiring and they have a bunch of fillers, Jeremy grant Ronnie piece huestas and then they throw in 2 1st Rd future picks. They could def compete with Golden state rolling out Westbrook, George, Robertson, Melo and Adams

Kanter is duplicative of Willy, and I think he wont opt out. If someone values him, make it a 3 way.
it was never at the 2 yard line, frank isola said that so whem the knicks did not make the deal he coukd say the knicks screwed it up...
he had an article yesterday thay said the paramaters of a deal were in pkace but were figurjng out where ryan anderson goes, umm that means you do not have the paramaters of the deal
If OKC would throw in a 1st Rd pick with Kanter , Grant and some other expirings it's an absolute no brainer. It guarantees Knicks are top 5 bad team next year in a very top heavy draft. Additionally there is a chance Melo, George and Westbrook are gone after next year.
If Houston wants us to take on Anderson, fine make sure to include a 2020 1st rounder (Houston would have to guarantee the 2018 they just sent out for us to be able to get a 2020) and either one of the 2 big man prospects. Anderson's contract is relevant over the next 3 years because Knicks are maxed out. Additionally allows for a full tank next year
I would also take Shump Frye, Fillers and a 1st rounder in 2020 or 2022 for Melo. Cleveland can get this done if Melo waives trade kicker. Shump's contract again irrelevant and helps guarantee top 5 pick. Shump is also tradeable at deadline to a team that needs a defensive guard/Wwing.
There is no upside to keeping Melo around, if have to take on bad contracts to get a 1st rounder and a young project then it's a no brainer. The contracts are irrelevant at this point.
This better not end with Jeremy Lin back at MSG
makes sense. They still have cap room....right?

like an unreliable source but some guy from Daily Nets claims the Nets were approached about being the third team in a Melo/Houston deal.

Yeah 16.5 million with Foye's hold, 19.5 without

I actually really like that trade for both teams.
To take on Mozgov (3 years 48M) the price was Russell.
I just don't see any asset that would compel them to take on Anderson's 3 years 60M. If they get rid of Nicholson that brings the net cap hit more in the range of Mozgov, but there's still seemingly no asset HOU or NYK would give up that's in the ballpark of Russell. Also they'd lose all their space next year which looks to be a pretty good year for RFA's.

Spot on. Put aside RFAs for next year. The whole NBA world is talking about how a ton of teams are in lux tax territory for 2018-19. There are going to be picks available for taking 1 year deals next offseason.
