Training camp is around the corner, so finally new Giants news will soon be here. Until then, this is a review of the 1990 Giants vs Cardinals game, which in many ways was a precursor to the championship run to come, including Jeff Hostetler coming off the bench for an injured Simms, a late Matt Bahr FG to win the game, and a game that ended in a 20-19 score.
In many ways this was the Giants worst performance in their 10-0 start in 1990, but like all championship teams, finding a way to win a game when they don't play well.
Enjoy.

Matt Bahr kicked the game winner as we approached the Rutherford Circle on Park Ave. We pulled over to the side and went nuts.
Us being the die hard fans didn't care for one second that we missed being there. We were just happy the Giants won. But 27 years later i'm pissed! I have't left a game early since and that includes the 2010 Philly debacle.
I said it in the recently posted review of the 2000 Jaguars game...there was something about the lighting or something else about that stadium that made the 4PM games look incredible. The second half of every 4PM game played in that stadium (particularly after around Halloween) looked like The Revenant on the screen.
I find they make me nostalgic thinking about where I was in my life through Giants football.
Seeing the old players, announcing teams, in some cases a quick promo sneaks into one of the clips.
You do a great job, Thanks!
Having seen the highlights, however, what kind of move was that by Parcells to end the game? Running off the field full sprint after the FG?
He always seemed to be gracious, esp after a win........any coach did that and I would be saying "what a d***".

in the '90s the Cardinals were always the league doormat team. Even during the dark era of the Reeves/Dave Brown years and an offense that could barely find the endzone with a map with any consistancy, the Cards games were almost a sure 'W'

I was 12 and in 7th grade, and missed the first half because I had to go to the library to work on a group project with other kids in my class. I was fucking pissed to begin with...imagine my surprise when I get home, Simms is out, and we aren't destroying the Cardinals.

Completely. This status was created in my fan experience when the Giants crushed them 44-7 in 1988. But only three weeks prior the Cardinals beat the Giants in Arizona behind the wildly explosive Neil Lomax to Roy Green combo.
I used to wait tables in DC about ten years ago. At one of the restaurants the maitre d' was a great guy from the Bronx who had a significant gambling problem. We were bullshitting about sports and he told me about playing fantasy football in 1988 and leaning on the sneaky good combo of Lomax/Green. It basically triggered my 20 year old PTSD from that game.
