Seriously - was moreso junior high era for me, but that was a big part of the soundtrack for those nights we snuck booze from the liquor cabinet, went to our first HS parties, pregame locker room mix before football games. Just awesome
In 1987, The Doors' first album was 30 years old. Would a modern-day teenager view Appetite through from a similar perspective that I viewed The Doors from at that time?
and one of the best of all time. Absolutely great from top to bottom.
Not just musically but audio/production wise, it's fantastic. You can hear every instrument clearly in the mix, it's not a wall of noise like a lot of today's brickwalled recordings.
Funny thing is it still has yet to get remastered and re-released because even with how good it sounds, a remaster of the orginal tapes with todays technology would make it sound even better. I think since GnR got back together now it's an option because I read in Slash's book that due to an unrelsolved legal issue between them and Axl over copyrighted material, nothing new could be released or done with the existing material or putting out a "new" live album of all the concerts they have in the archive.
...I'd have to go with Think About You as the only weak link on the album because it's more of a generic love song that doesn't really fit the rest of the album and seems like filler which I think it was.
Also, Axl did have You Could Be Mine and November Rain written but it was left off AFD and saved for future use.

I can't believe that was 30 years ago. ugh
Always loved the song...took several years to figure out what it was about
Wow, that's true but somehow puts it in a perspective that I wasn't appreciating.
