A healthy Castro is an all-star, so it's a little early for Wade. Great having someone that talented to take over, his lousy stats in his first try notwithstanding. He will get much stronger over the next couple of years.
Btw, for all of the Headley critics (and that includes me), he has been pretty much raking of late--.320 in the past 36 games. His entire approach seems to have changed; getting a lot more bat speed. I noticed that yesterday--he got around on a chest-high 96 mph fastball and just missed keeping it fair. Must be keeping his weight back a lot longer. Average up from .232 June 7 to .263 now.
is also sitting on the bench for the second game in a row. Hopefully the team is moving away from him and can use his roster spot to protect one of the rule-5 guys that they will certainly lose after the season.

Of the reasons I would not be willing to let Mateo go, I have little faith in Castro. He is a bad second baseman, injury prone, and swings at bad pitches all the time, he will never learn to be a more selective hitter. I would not pay him big money on a long term deal, no way.
Very wise of Girardi to have matt Holiday as our clean up hitter, especially when you have such bad choices as Gary Sanchez. I have not thought he has put out the best lineup once the entire season, I have never seen as poorly run team as I have seen by Girardi this season. He has been absolutely brutal this year.
Yeah, I have to agree with you that Tanaka has been very good the last two years but I don't think he dominates the hitters like he did in 2014. One can believe that without the arm trouble he might have even improved from his rookie season when he was dominant. His E.R.A. and strikeouts per inning in 2014 were his career bests. He has most definitely regressed this year and most likely will not be back next year.
on Cruz's infield single that inning ends a lot sooner though. Not impressed so far.
I'm not impressed either. But Headley never touches that ball.
This is alll about Tanaka.l, everything else is noise
Frazier has been an absolute zero so far but not surprising really. Tanaka just brutal 26 homers allowed tied most in the league just isn't going to get it done.

Yep, and Fraizer only cost the team a premium prospect.

Tanaka would have to opt out no? I dont see him walking away from a 22 milliin dollar salary to test free agency after the year he has had and the injury concerns he has

If you think Frazier was the centerpiece of that deal, you're crazy.

Yes, he would have to opt out. If I were his agent, I still MIGHT tell him to opt out now anyway. I think someone would give him 4 years x 15m. That's locking in $38m that might never come if next year's opt-in is shitty.
I think he will opt out looking for a long term deal that the Yankees,I believe, would be very hesitant to give him. I guess we'll see how he finishes out this season.

Starlin Castro headed back to DL after reinjuring hamstring
Maybe I heard wrong
Some posted it on twitter but I wasn't able to verify, so I didn't want to put it out there. But, WFAN is legit. That fucking blows.

Yes, same hamstring injury. It's a 10-day DL stint again.

Pretty unreal.
That won't happen. Joe has a pretty significant man crush on Torreyes.

What so we do with this guy then? Tanaka seemingly has to be a starter, no?
He was fantastic last season and the year before. So I've got to disagree there
