Mets win 8 of their next 9 they are so buyers!!! ;)
If we rattle off 9 in a row sure. but we wont...
Reed, can he get us a top 100 prospect?
Duda to the Yankees makes too much sense, I think he would thrive there (I worry that it would turn into a murphy/turner situatino when he leaves because he could just hit bombs in that lineup and in that stadium)
Cabrera (Red Sox/Indians? Some mid level prospect I guess)
The Mets really arent that far off from a team like the Mariners who have been kicking around "buying". They are a million games behind the Astros and are under .500. Their best hope is getting a second wild card and they dont have a Thor or a Familia coming back anytime soon...
Bruce I've come around on not being so quick to deal. He's not perfect, but he is a proven and reliable 30/100 guy who has shown he can play here. Those are not so easy to find. If they can't get something good for him and he takes his 1 year deal it's worth it. I mean, just a few years ago we gave up a first round pick and paid more for Cuddyer to do a few magic tricks.
It would be really great to see what an IF of Rivera/Flores/Rosario/Smith can do the rest of the year.

The Mets don't have Gary Sanchez.
I agree I think he is ready but he isn't going to hit 20 homeruns in 53 games.

kind of like the Yankees did last year (went from .500 at the deadline to 11 games over on 9/10, then fell off). Duda, Cabrera and Reed are the 3 guys I'd 100% almost no matter what. Clear the decks for Smith and Rosario to play the full 2 months.

Did the Yankees have Syndergaard, Harvey and Familia possibly returning from injury? All 3 are throwing.

Rosario will not. Could Cespedes?
Rosario at SS, and Dom Smith at 1B. I'm done with Cabrerra, Duda and Walker.
Keith Hernandez was on with Mike F the other day. He said he thought Reyes could play an adequate 2B next year. He also said he likes the way Jay Bruce plays the game and he would resign him....Keith's opinion matters with me.
The problem with the outfield is -- you got a Rightfielder in Left, a Leftfielder in Center and Bruce in RF.
Why?
1. Probably Sandy's most lopsided trade was getting Herrera and Black for Byrd. So Sandy has already proven he can make trades after the deadline and that is a lot easier to do when you are moving high salary guys who teams might be reluctant to claim on waivers as a blocking move.
2. He has Thor Fsmilia and Harvey all coming back. A ten game lead is not insurmountable. Unlikely perhaps. But what if Greinke and Ray go down for Arizona. Because other teams can suffer devastating injuries as well.
3. Sandy is not moving guys just to move them . He has to get something of value in return. Right now everybody is low balling the Mets because they think there is going to be a fire sale. Ain't happening unless Mets just collapse next 9 games.
4. Sandys contract is up, we all expect him to be retained. But I guarantee you that is not how Sandy operates. He will give this team every chance to comeback. They already did it the last two years, The hill is bigger this year but until it is insurmountable, Sandy is not throwing in the towel. That is media speculation. Sandy has always said he will reserve judgment until right near the deadline. If Mets go 5-3 the next 8 games. Sandy is in. 2-6 and he probably sells

No they didn't but when will they arrive? Also the Yankees weren't as far behind as the Mets are. Getting Harvey back is going to be a big boost? He has a 6.19 FIP this season.
C'mon Sandy....pull another rabbit out of your hat.
The Mets don't have Gary Sanchez.
No, but they do have a Michael Conforto.
Another bomb for the kid. I like that he's heating up again.

I'm not saying this is your 2018 team...just finish 2017 out seeing what they have.

The smart play would be to promote Rosario and Smith now and give them as much experience as possible for next season. The NL East should be even tougher next season and getting young players as much experience as possible can only help their chances IMO. If Smith struggles then the Mets could try to re-sign Duda to a short deal.
