and probably give up a prospect or two we're gonna hate to see go. The front office will conclude that one more arm + deep bullpen + healthier lineup will be enough to make us contenders.

Cashman was also over ruled many times by the Tampa segment. Cashman wanted no part of ARod signing that contract. He was overruled. Cashman has wanted to go this direction for a long time and was finally able to talk the clowns upstairs into letting him do it. Your anger is directed in the wrong direction.

Let me preface my post with I love Cash, he's a superb GM and don't love this mythical "Tampa Crew" Hal, Randy Levine etc...However there's a little too much of framing every bad move we've made over the past 10 years as something Cash was against and over ruled on. He has to take the bad with the good. He's been the GM here for 20 years. He has now set us up for a great chance at a contending run.

But he did want to start a rebuild several years before the higher-ups would allow it, and he did want to trade Robertson and Cano rather than letting them walk. Only last year, when it was obvious by midseason that they weren't a playoff contender, did he get the green light to sell. I think it's been pretty well established that the Yankees hierarchy will never sell if there's any chance, however remote, of making the playoffs.
