NFT: Caribbean All-Inclusive resorts

Nick in LA : 7/24/2017 7:30 pm
Anyone have any experience or advice about any of them? The fiancé and I are looking into an all inclusive for our honeymoon in October. We just want to be able to relax for a week and not really worry about anything. Open to all islands so any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone

last November for our honeymoon, loved it. We used Sandals. Was in the Dominican Republic in March at an Iberostar, while overall it was bigger and more grand than where we stayed in St. Lucia, I'd recommend St. Lucia over that, based on our experience. The Dominican was definitely fun, but the food was atrocious. I'd also recommend Turks and Caicos. Was there several years ago and it was excellent.
In the DR

we did ours there 5 years ago and my sister just got back from hers there last week - incredible
I agree with the St Lucia comments.

Beautiful island. I loved Turks and Caicos. Prettiest island I have been to. We went to Beaches, which is family oriented, but I would look for an all inclusive on this island.

Congrats and good luck!

In Negril Jamaica. Had an amazing time with my wife last October
Since you're looking at October

any issues with weather diminish with the end of hurricane season, so your options are really open.

The next question to ask is - do you want an adults-only resort or do you mind having kids running around all over the place?

If the former, your options are whittled down quite a bit and that's mainly a good thing.

I'm partial to Aruba, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. John's, Turks & Caicos, and St. Lucia. You can't go wrong with any of those.

The other option that may surprise you in terms of how much money you could save is an AirBnb.

Stayed at Cofressi Palm Resort (Lifestyle Holiday Vacation Club) in Puerto Plata DR a few years ago. Had a great time. The only drawback was the resort was nice and expansive but somewhat hilly.

We are heading to Montego Bay staying at Sandals Royal Caribbean in two weeks. I'll pull this up and give my two cents on that one as well.
You could also do a cruise

get the AI experience on the ship and go to multiple islands. If you haven't been, it's worth checking out at least once.

October might offer some solid deals too since it's not right in the middle of the winter.

We just did the Oasis of the Seas on RC - amazing ship. Truly unreal what they can do with these things. It's like the 3rd largest ship on the planet.

Food was good, plenty of space, booked a balcony stateroom, it was a lot of fun. Tons of stuff to do on and off the ship. And you can tailor a lot of what you are doing based on being on your honeymoon. They have an adults-only part of the ship that is gorgeous.
Whatever you do

Stay away from Wyndham. They suck. Horrible time in Nassau
2nd Jamaica. Super Clubs Negril excellent
gtt350 : 7/24/2017 9:58 pm : link
on the buffet i counted 37 different cakes and pies for dessert.
the ganga is cheap and great.
Stay away from sandals that say you can go to any of there clubs on an Island. It gets crowded and service suffers at dinner etc

Jamaica is fun, banana bread, Royal Jamaican cigars and coffee, Jerk Chicken and no problem mon attitude.
I hear Mexico is great

for the responses. We are looking at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana DR. Through Cotsco travel it seems to be a really good deal with First class airfare. We could book St. Lucia for around the same amount but the Hard Rock with the casino seems right up our alley. If I am making a mistake please tell me! haha. Thank you again.

Problem is it's gotten really expensive.

St. Lucia is really good, and has a number of all-inclusive options. I did Anse Chastanet with an all-inclusive package and it worked out great.

I've been to Punta Cana but stayed at Melia Caribe. Loved it but I know several people who have stayed at the Hard Rock there and said it was their favorite resort they've ever been to.

The wife, myself, my sister, and two nephews just got back from Presidential Suites at Lifestyles Holiday Vacation Club this past weekend. The resort is HUGE to be honest. We had a blast there. The water in Puerto Plata is more "bluer" than in Punta Cana, imo. We stayed at a resort in Punta Cana last year, name slips my mind. Definitely more quiet in Punta Cana than Puerto Plata.

My wife and I felt the exact same way as you. We were the type that felt after the excitement and planning of the wedding, rather than "adventure" travel for our honeymoon with long, multiple flights or touring several cities at a time, we just wanted to relax on the beach.

Depending on flight times and your own island preference I highly recommend Sandals. We did Antigua and loved every day we were there. Lots of activities if you get bored easily (scuba, snorkel, kayaking, boat cruises, and many more excursions if you wanted to add on). You can also be as social as you want to be as they always have different events each night with beach BBQs, live music, entertainment, etc.

Plenty of good food and of course drinks. You can just lock your wallet away in the safe once you get there and enjoy yourselves.
Chris is the Black Falcon Catamaran still there
