According to The New York Times, “two people briefed on the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid conflicts with Eon and MGM,” say that Craig is coming back, and since the Times is pretty trustworthy publication (as opposed to DanielCraigShouldAlwaysBeBond.com), I’m willing to put my faith in their reporting that the actor will make his fifth appearance as Bond in the upcoming sequel. |
Glad we won't see Hiddelston or whatever other awful names we're floating out there.
Craig is a great Bond. I didn't appreciate how awesome CR was until subsequent viewings. The confluence of high-energy chases with the staid Dr No-esque poker scenes is perfect.
I didn't see Spectre but was disappointed to hear it fell flat since Mendes directed one of my favorite films of the 21st century (also starring Craig).
He's getting up there and Bond is definitely more convincing as a 30-45 y/o, but Connery & Pierce went to 53 & 49, respectively, so w/e.
Fortunately (one of) the worst Bond film(s) contains the hottest Bond girl, so once you inevitably get tired of the hackneyed plot line you can just say fuck it and masturbate instead.
I admire what Craig has done with the role even if the movies haven't quite lived up to the promise. Hopefully they can send him off on the right note. I wonder if they'll continue the storyline from SPECTRE or if they'll start fresh. Personally, I'd like them to get away from the whole Bond family drama angle and just have him on a cool, dangerous mission.
Hopefully, someone writes a strong script.
hopefully you do want to go back to the plots where Bond escapes the first kill attempt by the villain and then the villain invites him to his secret hideout/operation, explains his plan, then gives him an opening to blow the place up. lol If they can do what they did in Skyfall or Casino Royale it would be great. Spectre was shit in my view as it was trending back to the previous nonsense.

that there's only been 1.75 good movies to come out of it. Casino Royale was superb, Skyfall was good up to Silva's capture imo. Craig is great though.

Sort of awkward in the theater, no?

This may shock your world view, but I think it's possible to put Bond on a stand-alone mission that doesn't have anything to do with his orphan past, his mommy issues with M, or his long-lost foster brother, and ISN'T a by-the-numbers, formulaic film. Casino Royale did a good job of getting into Bond's psychology without lessening his stature as a fantasy figure, and also happened to be an entertaining action thriller. The other recent movies, not so much. I know "fun" is a dirty word to some, but I hope Craig has a chance to do a "fun" Bond film for once, while still maintaining the layers in his characterization.

That's why they have the large tubs of buttered popcorn.
Fucking love that movie.
'Gene, let's listen to this shit! If he's lying, we'll both fucking kill him.'

Yeah, it's a great one. He just had that "it" factor, a sense of coolness that I thought would be perfect for Bond. I read awhile back that they were trying to make the sequel, Viva la Madness, starring Jason Statham. Can't say I'm too excited about that.
They need a young Bond and a no name actor, IMO.
Lesser known rumored choices are Dan Stevens (most known from "The Guest") & Matthew Goode. Both would need to put on some mass.
As indicated, I just really hope it's not Hardy.
Short list of Bond director candidates
Mackenzie is intriguing because Starred Up and Hell or High Water were both awesome.
I know people want more "fun", but I'm in the camp that likes a more serious, dark bond and these 2 directors feed into that immensely.

"Convinced?"
"You don't fuck about, do you?"
My favorite might just be the Duke: Fucking...yes...please!
I said the same thing, seemed a natural progression for him. Now, let's see them build a vehicle for success around him like Skyfall or Casino.
