Spags pre-camp interview on Giants.com

Nothing earth-shattering, but something to pass the time.
Spags on the Defense - ( New Window )
I thought Spags would have more success as a Head Coach.

I was surprised that his stint with the Rams went so poorly, and then to follow that up with a nightmare as DC in New Orleans and meh in Baltimore, not to mention is first year back with us. I hope he can breathe a little easier now.

New Orleans was hardly his fault. That roster was offense heavy, and some key players were suspended. Tough situation to be in, and I don't think anyone in the league holds it against him.

Well, I certainly don't. I love the guy, especially after watching the interview he gave right after Super Bowl 42, where he said that the Giants didn't show the Patriots everything they had in their defensive arsenal in the last game of the regular season...sort of implying (or inferring - I always get those two mixed up) that he outsmarted Bill Belichick.
He's a smart, energetic guy.......

has a good scheme, but it's hard to make apple sauce out of crap in this league. When he's had talent, he succeeds, like most coaches in this league.

Spags is the anti-Marinelli. He has to have good talent, and when he does, it's well-oiled. He's never going to overachieve with a lackluster group.

He's very high ceiling, low floor.
