Report: #Yankees nearing trade for Sonny Gray and Yonder Alonso

Read more: http://bronxpinstripes.com/news-rumors/report-yankees-nearing-trade-sonny-gray-yonder-alonso/

I don't mind doing a deal for Gray but we have no need for Yonder

You want to post the 1B that we currently have that is posting better offensive #s than Alonso's .264/.363/.535 with 21 homers?

I'm thinking long term, not a single year fix here, so I'd give Bird one more shot at the job next year before making a permanent switch at 1st. We are short of pitching so Gray fills both an immediate and long-term need
Monty's back on track.
Dave in Hoboken : 7/25/2017 8:59 pm : link
Great outing for him. Just what the doctor ordered. He needed that.
Alonso's 2017 reminds me a bit of Headley's 2012
dpinzow : 7/25/2017 9:01 pm : link
in fact they have almost the exact same career averages (BA, OPS, OPS+)
Additionally, Alonso is a free agent
dpinzow : 7/25/2017 9:06 pm : link
so you might be giving up prospects for a rental in a year where we don't have pressure to win a WS. Gray is team-controlled for 2 more years. I'd make the deal just for Gray
Betances walks the first man on 4 pitches

Betances has problems
Dave in Hoboken : 7/25/2017 9:22 pm : link
and has had them for awhile now. Is he ever going to fix himself/get fixed?
Betances has now walked 29 batters
dpinzow : 7/25/2017 9:24 pm : link
that is more than all of last year in only 35 innings
Joe should get him out now
32_Razor : 7/25/2017 9:24 pm : link

Billy Hamilton double off Judge's glove
dpinzow : 7/25/2017 9:26 pm : link
3-2 Yanks. Judge actually didn't need to jump
.
Danny Kanell : 7/25/2017 9:26 pm : link
Judge should have had that. Still, great job Dellin!
How did that guy not score

Bettances is meatloaf he is done
32_Razor : 7/25/2017 9:27 pm : link
Worst hitting team in league and he self destructs
It's time for Robertson to be the 8th inning guy

DennyInDenville : 7/25/2017 9:32 pm : link
Hopefully Chappy looks sharp and gets some swings and misses
Thank you, Warren.
Dave in Hoboken : 7/25/2017 9:32 pm : link
No thanks to Betances. Ugh.
Yup, Betances has to sit down for a while.
yatqb : 7/25/2017 9:32 pm : link
With the depth of this BP, pitch the guys who are performing.

Praying for more runs, as Chapman/Votto scares me.
Warren Robertson for 8th inning now
32_Razor : 7/25/2017 9:33 pm : link
Can't trust bettances anymore, the reds are worse hitting team in league

When he can throw strikes consistently he deserves the 8th inning job back. Till then he's gotta earn it.

Stupid comment. This is obviously a problem. He has really hurt this team for a while now and showing no signs of fixing it. He can't control his pitches. Its mental.
Kay ripping into Betances a bit and Chapman and Girardi cryptically
DennyInDenville : 7/25/2017 9:39 pm : link
He just kind of ranted hard
He was questioning their roles on the team
DennyInDenville : 7/25/2017 9:40 pm : link

It was his first outing allowing runs since the Toronto meltdown. He's been getting back to what he was. You've already told us how you can't stand him.

Guy's been maybe the best reliever in the league since he came up. A bad stretch and everybody is ready to give up on him. Tough
Just love

Kay is right. Why did he go to Betrances when the guy he replaced pitched to one guy and he's right handed also. Plus the Yanks have a one o'clock game tomorrow.
Not a Kay fan
bceagle05 : 7/25/2017 9:43 pm : link
but he was 100 percent right. Girardi's been underwhelming this season, and overall I think he's a solid manager.

Whenever I hear Kay doing that kind of rant ( can hear it in his voice) I think it was a planned and planted rant from Levine
Not give up on him, just adjust his role for a time.

Ya know, I had a similar thought. You can tell when YES gets the green light to turn up the heat on someone.
Kay is right.
Dave in Hoboken : 7/25/2017 9:45 pm : link
I love Betances, been one of my favorite players on the team these past few years. But the guy hasn't struggled for a few weeks or something. It's been a couple of months. He has shown a few signs of righting the ship recently, but nearly giving up the lead to the worst hitting team in MLB at home isn't acceptable. We need to win these winnable games.
Apparently Al Leiter didn't get the memo
bceagle05 : 7/25/2017 9:45 pm : link
because he got quiet for the first time in his life.
I do agree with Kay though
Kyle in NY : 7/25/2017 9:46 pm : link
the assigned innings must go.

Nice win!
Dave in Hoboken : 7/25/2017 9:51 pm : link
What a start by Montgomery. Took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. He needed this start.
.
Bill2 : 7/25/2017 9:53 pm : link
I don't take it as about Betances. I grant that's the subject. But its not the object.

Same kind of low end indirect sliming priming the pump before the campaign to drive Torre out ( which I agreed with the objective but not Kay having anything to do with it) or the decisions with Bernie or ARod.

I don't think a corporate shill job belongs in the broadcast.

Notice Kay does not need interviews from the manager so he is free to trash them to prepare the fans
