NFT: We lost someone special today

MadPlaid : 8/7/2017 4:12 pm
It is with deep sadness that I must let you all know that my dear big sister, schnitzie, lost her battle with cancer this morning. She did not suffer, and although we knew the end was near, her passing was still a shock. She hadn't posted on BBI in a while, but back when she did, she thoroughly enjoyed the witty banter that often accompanied the lively debates on the forum especially when they were good.

I know that she made a lot of friends through BBI, and kept up contact outside of the site. She would want you to know that she treasured the things about BBI that made it great especially its community feel and how so many times it was there to help people in need.

Cancer flipping sucks. Such a merciless blight on existence. Remember to keep those people who matter to you close, and to let them know often how much you cherish them.

RiffRaff and I and the entire Plaid family will miss schnitzie greatly.

am very sorry to hear about the death of your sister, schnitzie. I met her in 2004 for a draft day party in DC. Very pleasant, nice, and approachable. I also remember her posting. She was equally thoughtful and courteous. I wondered what had happened to her. RIP. God bless. Prayers to everyone in your family.

I will have to ask. I am a little hesitant to post the funeral location live on the internet. Hope you understand.

Now, I am not entirely certain of this, but I pretty sure that the phrase, "blast her in the butt" was a schnitzie original. I think it was related to a debate regarding sexism and the inevitable crassness that men may sink to.
You are half-right. It was a schnitzie original, but it wasn't in relation to a debate on sexism. Funny as it may sound, it was simply advice she had for a BBI'er who was complaining about some girl he was seeing.
p.s.--So sad to hear about her passing. She was a strong woman with an original voice and a refreshing presence on BBI.
Very sad to hear this

Thank you for confirming that this hilarious phrase was schnitzie's doing. It has totally been adopted by BBI, and I know she was proud of that.

Wasn't A-Rod her "husband"?

You had to love how she would curse like a sailor in Yankees game threads, especially after a big win. She really brought the passion.
My deepest sympathies and condolences

I had no idea she was even sick. I don't really do Facebook, so when she stopped posting here that was the last I heard of her. We had so many conversations over the many years, both here and on the old NoMaas board, about the Yankees and Giants and dogs, and when I was out of work when the economy tanked in 2008 she graciously gave me advice and resume help.

God bless you, schnitzie. My deepest sympathies Mad and Riffy.

I only heard recently that she was terribly sick. I'm heart-broken by this.

I understand. She had a big impact on a lot of things BBI did behind the scenes. I'm sorry for your loss.

Schnitzie was instrumental in a contest I won on BBI back in 2010 that ended up sending me, my wife, my brother and his wife to a Giants game against the jaguars. We won club seats and got to meet former Giant Philippi sparks. It was an amazing day for everyone -- my brother cherishes that day still. He doesn't frequent BBI but I will be sure to tell him this sad news.

I'm so sad to hear this.
