For me, kind of in that summer lull waiting for the NFL to start back up. Anyone playing anything new or fun these days? I just picked up Horizon: Zero Dawn the other day off of Amazon for $30 bucks. What a great game, the graphics are beautiful and the combat is pretty smooth.

Thinking of also trying Rocket League, anyone here play that?
Rocket league is really, really fun

I play with my kids, and it is just pure fun. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I still play OverWatch from time to time, but I am getting increasingly tired of people who play with disregard to teamcomp. It brings out sides of me that I don't like.

I went back to Bloodborne to complete the Old Hunters DLC. What an amazing game. I want to go back and read more Lovecraft because the ambiance of this game brings me there.

Kind of tired of games lately, though. That's probably a good thing.
Rocket League is life for me

They keep adding more and more DLC also. It really has become one of my favorite games ever. The only problem is that the skill level of all the players is so good now (as far as hitting the ball), that random teammates frequently end up working against you. But damn if this isn't the ultimate "5 more minutes" game.
Finally gave myself..

a break from FIFA 17 to waiut for FIFA 18 to come out. Started playing Battlefield 1, but didn't like it too much, so now I'm working through Dishonored 2. Liking that a lot!
Still playing Rocket League...

Been playing 2v2 lately and While I've been up to Silver level 3, I can't get past that playing with randoms. It's infuriating.
I love rocket league

Its one of those rare games that has a simple but open gameplay that always gives you room to get better, no matter how long you play.

Im in that silver 3 range, and probably wont get much better. I just don't have the reaction time as some of these kids.
Horizon Zero Dawn was a lot of fun.

Beautiful game. The Witcher 3 has really raised the bar for me in terms of expectations, and Horizon Zero Dawn really isn't that far off. I just wish some of the characters in the game and side quests were more memorable. Thats what really set The Witcher apart from everything else.

I'm hoping that CD Projekts new RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, is held to the same standard in development.

I still haven't finished Bloodborne. Thats a great game too.

Been such a dry spell for great games. Can't wait for the fall.

I have Bloodborne, but I haven't found the courage to play it yet. I hear it's unbearably hard.
Its not as hard as the Dark Souls games.
Brown Recluse : 8/8/2017 1:09 pm : link
But still pretty difficult at certain points.

I played a ton of Rocket League - haven't played in a couple months. But I basically had to play with my friends because playing with randoms was ridiculous. Some of these people are way too good at it and it's impossible.
Found a good deal on

a Nintendo Switch and got one along with Zelda but havn't had a chance to open it yet.

I finished Persona 5. If you like JRPGs and have a PS4, you should give it a shot. Great characters, battles and soundtrack. The game definitely had a unique style that you don't really see with western made games.

I'm working on replaying Uncharted 3 and have the new Uncharted preordered, so I'll play that when it comes out. I'm also working on Pyre which is a sort of RPG/3 on 3 ball game sort of hybrid. Really hard to explain but it's a lot of fun and has a great soundtrack and story. Well worth the $20. Finally got Dark Souls 3 too and want to get into that after the other games but not sure I'll have the willpower for it with Zelda sitting there.

I'll echo what the other posters said about Horizon. Great game, beautiful world, really tight and often challenging combat, great story too that gets stronger as you get to the end. (like another poster said) the side quests were a bit lacking compared to the main quest, but other than that, it's the best open world RPG I've played since Witcher 3. Really looking forward to the DLC.
Would have liked the ability to mount

some of the more dangerous machines in Horizon too. Much cooler to roam through the world on the back of a Ravager or a Sawtooth than the broadheads, chargers, etc.

It's kind of a strategy game. You learn the enemies moves and how to counter them. If you do play, you can so a special temporary multiplayer function to get help. Send me an APB on BBI and if our characters are close enough in level (for us to join together), I can help you kill some bosses or get through certain maps. I have a few characters to try out different builds so I should have one that would work.
Is anybody else finding that they have less stamina

to finish massive open world games. I basically did every single ounce of content for Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and the Halo games (not open world, I know, but you get the point). But I haven't finished the Witcher 3 or Fallout 4, despite loving those games, because it's harder to plow through what becomes 100-200 hours of gameplay. This is a new things for me.
a new thing

Rocket League is really fun...

My friends are so good at it, so I'm usually just happy if I don't throw the game. But yea, it's so simple but really satisfying. The most frustrating thing for me is playing with people who don't understand about rotation and just go all out for the ball all the time. But for the most part, it's all good.

For this reason, my kids and I still play against the AI. They aren't ready yet. This is how we did OverWatch, and now they are solid players against other humans. You ramp it up.

Jan, did you go deep into Guild Wars 2?

I sort of feel the opposite. I don't have as much time to play them as I used to, but I feel as though if I'm not working towards a goal then I'm not accomplishing anything and I'm wasting my time. Even if it takes me months to get to the end. :) Thats why I've never been that interested in online multi-player games.

Nah. I mean, I played it for a bit, but just like all MMOs that I've tried to play, my friends were never on, and never playing when I wanted to play. So I played for a bit, couple weeks, and then just abandoned it. That's how it goes with all MMOs to me. Without other people, it just feels like running a bunch of menial tasks.

I liked the combat in it though. Seemed interesting. And I had fun with the WvW thing for a while.

I mostly play Dota 2 and Rocket League now. Every once in a while I'll play an RPG on PS4.
