Just bad technique. Should really only be 1 or 2 throws and runner should be pushed back to the base he left from. You are right Sanchez should have chased him almost all the way back to 3rd before throwing - twice. the other 4 players did it right.

Outstanding play and block of the plate by Tanaka.

No B - it crossed the front corner of the plate. All it has to do is touch any part of the plate. Not where it ended. Even Cone said that.

Same K box showed a ball and was called strike to Pearce. Not sure where or how they line that thing up. It is only good for reference to other pitches in a sequence.

Agree. Save the $. They'll get similar production and a better contact rate from Cooper. With Judge and Sanchez consuming a ton of strikeouts, they really need more contact from the role currently being filled by Frazier.

Between Torres/Bird/Headley/Cooper/Andujar, 1B/3B/DH should be taken care of.

Just my opinion.

So the Mets send him to the Indians, likely for lesser prospects. Either because they didn't want to deal with the Yankees, or they wanted a team to cover the full salary (for two months) because they're cheap.

Either way, that's lame.

I dog them for awful situational hitting but tonight they were superb. Lil Ronnie can play on my team any time. Approach is better, great job by the hitters picking up unusually shaky middle relief tonight. Judge is absolutely lost right now. Hopefully he shakes it off.

Judge should get dropped down in the lineup at least temporarily. He seems like he'd accept that and just work harder. Hard to fault the guy - he was Ruthian for half a season. Let's let him work through it.

I'm just disappointed that he and Sanchez continue to flail at outside pitches and refuse to go to right.

Good win.
It's pitch recognition
Kyle in NY : 8/9/2017 11:39 pm : link
pretty clear they're having trouble identifying off speed pitches and they're way out in front of it. I'd venture to guess Judge's numbers on fastballs are still pretty decent. He went to RCF with one on Sunday for a home run.

So it's not that they're refusing to go to right, they're just not recognizing off speed pitches the way they were in the first half. And they're so far out in front, they have no chance to go the other way.
Holy shit,

the Mets are taking a beating over that trade, haha. Pretty funny.
I can't imagine

having ownership like that. I feel for their fans
Holy crap, bahahahahah

NYY: 2 prospects Mets asked for and $1m in salary relief.

CLE: 30th rounder Ryder Ryan and about $5m in salary relief.

Mets chose latter.

You literally can't make it up. Mets fans are raging on Twitter, too.
Bruce is happy to be gone:

Having spoken to Bruce about the situation in recent weeks I know he is ecstatic: He wanted a shot this year at the World Series.
----------------------

Can't say I blame him. I bet it has to be frustrating for players to know they are on a team with ownership that is never willing to go that extra mile to win.

Also glad we didn't give anything up for Bruce, but that's besides the point.

Yep.
any word...

...on who the two prospects were that the Yankees offered?
One name mentioned was Domingo German...
Dunedin81 : 8/10/2017 8:52 am : link
that was mentioned by Incarcerated Bob though, so take it FWIW.
The other name, same source (grain of salt)...
Dunedin81 : 8/10/2017 9:47 am : link
was Luis Medina. If that's true, Mets fans are right to be upset. An MLB-ready reliever and a flamethrower with a big ceiling.
The Mets are hilarious

Freddy Coupon taking the money instead of the prospects is such a Mets-thing to do. SAD!!!

Can't wait for the Baghdad Z Spin Cycle to go into full effect today.
When whispers of deGrom trade rumors started

I wondered what the Yankees could conceivably offer that would force the Mets to say yes. Based on these past couple of weeks, I'm not sure Torres, Frazier, Florial, Adams, Sheffield and Betances would get it done. They might ask for Judge or Sanchez, too.
