Okay so my friend just got hired as a special education administrator for a charter school and one of her many first tasks is to hire two special education teachers. So far she's received only two unimpressive resumes. She'd like to cast a wider net, but this is her first management-level job and she's never had to do something like this before. Nor is it something I have any experience at.
I've googled "special education teacher chat room" and I guess she could post the job openings on one or more of them, but I was wondering if there is a place where resumes are posted and she could just put in a few key words to get a bunch of resumes that fit the profile for the position.
All suggestions are welcome.
Then here's LinkedIn which would be useful since your friend would hopefully have connections in the same field. If the job is posted it will blast out to your friends network of contacts and maybe you land a referral.
If that doesn't work, Uconn suggested a couple good options, and then there is the local news sites.
In Boston, the Globe website, boston.com has a job posting section (that links to Monster.com)
But she's residing here in Wilmington, NC.
There's probably Special Education Educators Websites you can go "fishing" for applicants.
I hope this helps.

Let me know how this disaster works out. Sounds like she is in over her head.
Sorry.

Sorry.
He didn't say she didn't know what she wants in an employee, just where to find the best ones. That's a little different.

Shouldn't she know as an administrator? No?
Especially in a field as that?

Yes, but that's a different question...
Sorry.
p.s.--To those with questions, she has spent years as a teacher in both general ed and special ed, originally in the classroom and for the past ten plus years with a couple different charter schools. She was referred for the special ed coordinator position by a friend of a friend at a charter school with a program that she was unfamiliar with, but she interviews well and was offered the job.
Unfortunately, she inherited a mess. It's a well-established, well-funded school, but it faces law suits from whacky parents, regulation issues from the state government, and not enough teachers for the students enrolled and the school year begins Sept. 5th. On top of that, the school utilizes different software than her previous schools, so she is binge-watching tutorials to get up to speed.
That being said, the school hired the right person when they hired her despite her rookie status as an administrator and inexperience with their software. Once she gets past the learning curve, she will knock it out of the park. She knows her stuff and she is a good communicator.
As for the job openings she needs to fill, the positions were posted via school's usual channels by the Human Resources department, but she only received two applicants so far (one has the proper credentials, but zero experience, the other is completely unqualified).

Sorry.
Yep, sounds like you're a dick.
Sorry.
