They could have started for almost any team in the league other than the Giants. When you consider the LB corps as a whole, including those two guys, there isn't a doubt in my mind that the Giants LBs of the mid '80s were the best and deepest group in league history.

Agreed - although BH did see significant playing time - he would have started for just about any other team except maybe the Saints. IIRC, Andy Headen (another great player) was forced to retire early because of genetic defect of the spine or neck(?). I think I remember reading an interview with Bill Parcells where Parcells said it was one of the toughest meetings/conversations he ever had with a player.
