Redskins: Murphy and Cravens getting MRI's

FatMan in Charlotte : 8/11/2017 8:43 am
Murphy's is being thought of as more serious, but both Trent Murphy and Su'a Cravens are having MRI's for knee injuries they suffered last night.

If either or both are out for the year, that's a big blow to an already shaky defensive unit.

they're mediocre anyway

Yet better than their replacements are likely to be.

The crowds at Skins training camp this year were the smallest since they're come to Richmond.
That defense isn't good.

And I'm gonna wait and see how no DeSean Jackson affects that offense. I think it will be more than people are projecting.
Cravens is better than mediocre,

he just seems to be injured a lot in his early career.
Skins looked horrible last night
George : 8/11/2017 9:22 am : link
and I don't think it was just because it was preseason. That's a bad team right there: no offensive weapons, depleted defense, and an incompetent front office. No wonder the fanbase is angry.
Throw it all out

until you hear what Jordan Reed's status is for the season. He's always been the straw that stirs the drink on that offense. Judging them without him is a waste of time unless they actually will be without him during the regular season.

They are not without weapons. Crowder and Pryor are legitimate NFL receivers. To say otherwise is ridiculous. But you will see a marked drop in everyone's production without Reed as he's the guy that stresses a defense.
I think Crowder is going to be very good
Jimmy Googs : 8/11/2017 9:48 am : link
he hurt us plenty last season...
Reed is even more crucial now that they lost Jackson
Greg from LI : 8/11/2017 9:55 am : link
All those possession receivers they have were heavily dependent on Jackson and Reed to give them room to operate. Without Jackson, Reed is their only big play threat and he's hurt half the time.
Pryor can serve that role as well....
Giantfan in skinland : 8/11/2017 10:00 am : link
He's not as dynamic as Jackson (frankly, nobody is), but put him over the top with Reed and it's plenty dangerous to create some space for a guy like Crowder. All the more so if they can get any contribution from Josh Doctson.

I don't know if it all works out for them, but they've got a pretty solid OL, an at worst competent QB, and certainly enough talent on paper at WR/TE that the pieces can fit together for a pretty dynamic passing offense. I guess all I'm saying is I'm not quite ready to dance a jig over their grave just because they looked sloppy in preseason game 1 without their best player.
I think

Cravens is a pretty good player. He'd look good in a Giants helmet.
Cravens..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/11/2017 10:33 am : link
is a really good hybrid LB. His game-ending INT last year was a very impressive play.

As a 2nd year guy, he probably would be a focal point for the D, so if he's hurt, that can only be good for the rest of the NFC East.

I think they'll miss Garcon even more. Pryor can give the Skins some of what DJax did, but Garcon was a major security blanket for Cousins. If Jordan Reed misses time, that offense could really struggle.

Yes, exactly. He's been a focal point in camp and this is a very big blow if he's out for an extended period.
Jackson forced safeties to pay attention to him
George : 8/11/2017 12:07 pm : link
That opened things up for Reed, Crowder, and Garcon. I agree that this entire group of receivers was and is quite talented, I don't think that the additional of Terrelle friggin Pryor is going to make up for the loss of Garcon and Jackson.

I just don't see anyone on that team who can take the top off a secondary or serve as a security blanket for Cousins underneath, especially if Reed isn't 100%.

I really think Washington is in trouble this season.
Hopefully they are season ending injuries! I know the "beat them at

Looks like Murphy

This could be Reed's last year in the NFL, and I'm not just saying that because I HATE Washington. His next concussion could be his last as a player. His head has taken a beating. The rest of his body hasn't held up well either.
