Landon Collins Last Night?

armstead98 : 8/12/2017 11:08 am
I was at a rehearsal dinner so missed most of the game but I've seen people say he was the best player on the field and he might even be better this year.

What did he do last night? Any sacks or picks?

No, simply a tackling machine. As Jenkins says, he craves contact.
He was all over the

field. The man is a beast.

Collins was a beast during the first few defensive series of the game.
He's just ferocious

I haven't seen a S do what he's doing too many times. Sean Taylor, Chancellor, Dawkins, maybe a young Roy Williams. It's a short list.
Dang

Not sure I've ever gotten to root for a player like this. Too young for LT, Strahan was great but different, loved Armstead as you can tell by the handle but Collins is special.
Rewatching the 1st half now

The way Collins closes is incredible, and he's as sound a tackler as anyone who's worn a Giants jersey in recent memory. Absolutely a special player
The guy is a football beast

Clearly he's the heart and soul of the D. Haven't seen anything like it in some time.
It looks to me
Carson53 : 8/12/2017 12:37 pm : link
he has lost a little weight, maybe to get quicker on pass D?
He still likes to hit, I see.

I also thought JJ Watt's brother looked good for the Steelers.
If he stays healthy

He will be a favorite for defensive player of the year.
He looks leaner and faster

Must've worked his ass off.

He's like a missile out there. Really fun to watch.

Name a better safety right now. Dude kills everything in his path and is so damned instinctive. Great player to watch.
He's a football

Best player on the team. There's just no hesitation with him. You're not fooling him whether he's in the box or in center field. He is so fluid in his lower half and rarely gets turned around. When was the last time a QB saw the nameplate on his back from any position other than the ground? The angles he takes are otherworldly. He's like Gretzky - he doesnt chase the ball. He knows where the play is going and will beat you to the mark, whether it is at the LOS or 50 yards down the sideline. His game speed is phenomenal. He makes DRC look like he has cement shoes on. Run, pass, blitz...he does it all exceptionally.

My favorite aspect of his game? If he touches you, he's bringing you down. His hands are iron. He's the best tackler this team has had in a loooooooong time. Thank you Nick Saban for still preparing NFL talent.

We are so lucky to have this kid on our team. As special as ODB is, LC is even better imho. It's great they are teammates bc they will continue to push each other higher and higher. There isn't a single player on the Defensive side of the ball id trade him for. Not Von Miller, Khalil Mack, Donald...nobody. Even on the offensive side, if it wasn't Aaron Rodgers, the only player I'd consider to be of similar value over time is Odell.
Looked like a defensive leader

always around the ball and brings his man down.

And with some attitude..

On Giants.com Janoris Jenkins was pretty funny, said Collins is "Contact Crazy."
Jenkins is a character!

he always seems to have some interesting quote or comment. Great for the locker room.
Just remember,

all the fuss and pessimism, when we traded up to get him. All the dumping on Reese, all the harping when he started a little slow first year.

Yup...and then the hissy fit thrown by some when we drafted Eli Apple...and the complaining about "reaching" for Engram...

He didn't "start slow". He was awful. Literally the worst at his position out of any starter in the league.

But, he was playing out of position and it motivated him to drop weight and he's now a goddamn missile out there. He's what Nat Berhe thinks he is when it comes to tackling.

Hopefully Flowers sees a similar transformation this year after being awful and losing LBs.
