NFT: Mets vs. Yankees: AKA Judge vs. Conforto

bigbluewreckingcrew25 : 8/14/2017 12:48 pm
The cross town rivals go out for 4 games. Starting tonight at Yankee Stadium. The Mets are looking to play spoiler while the Yankees are looking to solidify their playoff chances. With Montero pitching tonight, I think the Mets should just forfeit the game and give it to the Yankees and save the hits for tomorrow.

Many other storylines to watch. Judge vs. Conforto and the battle for who is the best young player in NY. Right now Judge is ice cold while Conforto is red hot. Also, the Mets will have Rosario and Smith get their first taste of the Subway series. Finally, does Chapman turn it around after a rough outing (really one pitch) last night.

I was thinking, when is it time to retire the Judge's chambers. I think it is clear now the Yankees should not have started this as soon as they did. Judge may still be a great player, but this was unneeded pressure to put on him.

This should go well.
We're starting Cessa, so I'm guessing the Mets will show up and play.
bceagle05 : 8/14/2017 12:54 pm : link
deGrom and Gray tomorrow - assuming deGrom isn't banged up, that will be a tough one.

Garcia vs. Lugo in game three is no big advantage one way or another.

Severino vs. Matz in game four is advantage Yankees on paper, but Matz is certainly capable.

If anyone's expecting the Yanks to steamroll this week, you might be disappointed.
I hope the Mets lose

every game, but Conforto goes off and Judge strikes out every time.

LOL, just kidding (only kidding about Conforto and Judge, not about losing) but some of you take this stuff too seriously, Mets and Yankees aren't rivals other than in the hearts and minds of insecure fans.
The Yankees

Have been making pitchers with high ERA's look like CY Young since June Met fans should not worry about montero tonight. He will pitch a good game. Yankeee fans should be worrying about Cessa it could be batting practice for the Mets tonight

nygnyy274 : 8/14/2017 1:18 pm : link
Exactly. And I think the Mets are going to put up a big fight these next four games and take 3 out of 4. This Yankee team is lost right now. Take away that 6 game winning streak to close out July and this team has been a complete shit show since June.
Yeah, I'm guessing it'll be a split.
bceagle05 : 8/14/2017 1:45 pm : link
How many series have the Yankees won in the past two months? One or two I think. Yankees have been mediocre for a long time. They desperately need Bird and Castro to come back and produce.
Rest of the team's should not play..both

Only Conforto vs Judge play. Lol
Conforto
DanMetroMan : 8/14/2017 1:52 pm : link
had a very disappointing second season and is now looking like a star. Judge had an INSANE first half, is now struggling and yet still has a higher fWAR than all but 2 rookies over the past 3 seasons (Bryant/Seager). I understand it looks ugly when a high K guy is struggling but this stuff is getting out of hand. Lest we forget Judge was viewed as a guy with ++ raw power that had yet to learn how to "use it" in game... and then he did.
Both teams have an outstanding young OF

for years to come.

The only advantage I see is in the Yanks training staff. yes that is a joke.

the last 55 games the Mets have a better record than the Yanks. Shows you how important it is to win games in April.

I mentioned his OPS which at times has been higher than it is currently. Yes, he's hit a few HR recently which is nice. I wouldn't really say he's on fire, however.

It was close, but no denying that he gets that called a strike against him FAR more than the average major leaguer.
He could use some Bryce-ness to him

I just don't understand some fans. Can't wait to play all the prospects. Can't wait to call a kid the next face of the league, but all it takes a one bad slump before he gets angrily tossed out with the trash.

I really hate how they call that striking out the side.
Striking out the side should be you k 3 batters in a row. Now walks, hits or errors.

JFC, no wonder this world is fucked up. I was responding to somebody posting that Chapman shouldn't close any more because he is struggling and said that they should send Judge down til he gets his swing straightened out, also.

Sorry my sarcasm was not readily apparent to the unwashed masses. It's not like sarcasm is foreign or new to my posts.

Good stuff, but completely incapable of getting through 4-6 innings without several mistakes that get hit 350-450 feet. He missed the spot on the Cespedes HR as badly as humanly possible.
