3-4 Front

CMicks3110 : 8/14/2017 8:05 pm
I had heard some mentions by the beat writers that we might see some 3-4 looks this year. How do you think we'd deploy that. I'd imagine it would be Snacks at the Nose with Bromley and Tomlinson by his side, JPP and OV as OLB and Goodson and Kennard as ILB. I could see this working best against some of the real strong run offeses, especially in our division Dallas, Washington and Philly
I think...

it was Sy'56 who said we may see OV standing up a bit more this year.
OV was at his best standing up on the edge in Miami..

imagine OV and Kennard standing up on the edge, Snacks over the Center, and JPP at one of the two DE spots... Who plays the other end spot? Tomlinson? Bromley? Thomas? Okwara?
been pushing the 5-0-6 and etc since

forever

also

the 'inside out five' line, bigs ('DT's) on the ends to contain in pocket and 3 outstanding rushers('DE's probably) each having a single gap to jump through 'play run on way to the QB' style ....for a while as well
'inside out five'
idiotsavant : 8/14/2017 8:25 pm : link
started to counter the ever quicker to release the pass passing style by getting rushers in the direct face of the QB as instantly as possible
Just BTW a 3-4 "look" isn't a 3-4

It's a 4-3 with one of the DE's moving around. It doesn't change the basic scheme.
same goal as double a gap blitz I guess
idiotsavant : 8/14/2017 8:29 pm : link
. different players though

Bromly [Tomlinson/JPP\Vernon] Harrison

or

Bromly [Kennard/JPP\Vernon] Harrison

or

Bromly [Wynn/JPP\Vernon] Harrison
5-2
annexOPR : 8/14/2017 8:59 pm : link
Vernon Bromley Snacks Tomlinson JPP
Kennard Goodson
Apple DRC Collins Jenkins

Man up with these 3 corners and let Collins kill whoever ends up with the ball

Bingo

Vernon would be standing up.

I like the 5 line with 6 defensive backs.

the problem might be in the flats, RBs, TEs on routes, so additional safeties, 3 in total, and 3 corners in man, you get your counter TE player in a Safety
I believe a true 5-0-6 gets you some INTs
idiotsavant : 8/14/2017 9:08 pm : link
and may be a better run stopper than we think assuming the front has special athletes.

its predicated on the inside out thing, bigs keep everything in the middle, if your runner gets by the 3 interior dl players, you do have safety help.
We're loaded on the DL...
Torrag : 8/15/2017 12:42 am : link
...and have just an verge function LBV corps. Why the Hell would we employ 3-4 base looks more often? That makes zero sense. Don't overthink it. Look to your personnel. That will determine your scheme.
i think our DL is much better then our LB
BlackburnBalledOut : 8/15/2017 1:49 am : link
therefore i do not want to be in a 3-4 defense. im cool with shading coverage and blitz schemes but the strength of this team is the DL, so keep your strength on the field. I dont want JPP learning how to play LB when hes already an outstanding DE.

a good running team would pound the ball down your throat. Terrible idea IMO
Why..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/15/2017 3:53 pm : link
not just propose the good old 2-9??

Having no LB's will get exploited by TE's and runs up the middle. If you saw the Colts game several years ago, they put on a clinic on how you school a team that vacates the middle.

An absolute horrible idea that I'm not even sure would be a good idea to do situationally.
