NFT: Mets Vs. Yankees Part 2: DeGrom vs. Gray

bigbluewreckingcrew25 : 8/15/2017 10:19 am
After a come from behind win for the Yankees, we have a great pitching matchup tonight.

I will be in attendance in my Doc Gooden METS jersey tonight to watch the DeGrom take the mound. This may be a bit hyperbolic, but tonight DeGrom takes the mound with all of Mets nation on his shoulders. This season has been a DISASTER. What was thought to be a World Series year has turned into a nightmare. What was thought to be a Mets town has gone quickly back to the Yankees. Tonight DeGrom can fill us Mets fans with a sense of pride in taking the mound and DEGROMINATING the Yankees from pitch 1. Enough of ALL RISE!...Enough of Gary Sanchize!..Enough of feeling like second class citizens. THIS IS OUR CITY TONIGHT!! LETSSSS GOOOO!!!!

Weird. Commercials are fine.

so many young hitters
RasputinPrime : 8/15/2017 7:28 pm : link
with big holes in their swings. It seems like the entire league has changed the way hitting is taught in the minors. The Adam Dunn school of hitting.

but my favorite part of the OP was "What was thought to be a Mets town..."

Uhhh, no.

With that said, as a Yankees fan I do wish the best for the Mets and hope for another Subway Series championship showdown in the future.
I love baseball and I happen to be a Yankees fan
RasputinPrime : 8/15/2017 7:36 pm : link
I see no upside to crapping on fan bases outside of Boston. I'd love to see another subway world series.
Ugh, Didi needs to be on third there.

Grandy has no arm and that took forever to get to him.
Kay - "Ellsbury has some power..."

Question - when is going to withdraw it from his 2011 account?

I'd rather he starts to ARod and look to hammer first pitch fastballs. If he runs into it he is about 50/50 on getting a hit.
I was looking
Photoguy : 8/15/2017 8:16 pm : link
at the game logs, and Judge hasn't had a multi-hit game since July 18. You'd think he'd slip one in there SOMEWHERE.

At this point, I'd think about dropping him in the order....perhaps sixth. Maybe move Didi up to third. At least until he gets it figured out again.
Sonny gets out of the jam.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/15/2017 8:17 pm : link
I'm reminded of El Duque because he would've walked Cespedes and Conforto on purpose, then gotten out of the jam.

Why do people keep saying this? BTW, how many games has he recorded multiple walks during that span? The answer is 5 times. We get it... he's struggling. But he's still drawing walks, so he should stay high in the order.
1924

Babe Ruth has the fifth best WAR season (11.7) and doesn't finish in the top 22 in MVP voting.

He finished with one league MVP. He wouldn't place in the MVP voting again until 1931 (5th) and 1932 (6th).

Best player in MLB history and he has one MVP and only in the running three times.

Trout has 2 mvps and has finished second 3 times.

The way this game has been played, scored and captured over time is really unique.

Ellsbury!

The minimum distance for the fences is 250 down the lines. I say we get these fences manned by topless (male) operators who rotate them in in the bottom of the innings.
Rosario and Smith

Most 21/22 year olds do. It's rare a kid that young comes up and looks like he belongs immediately.

Even Conforto looked like he was ready to roll the second he stepped on a MLB field but he hit a rough patch and had a tough second season (injuries also played a role)

Takes time.

I have little doubt that Amed is going to be a stud. We'll see with Smith - it's going to depend on his power stroke and how much further along he can go with it.
.
arcarsenal : 8/15/2017 8:37 pm : link
Eh, d'Arnaud seemed like he had a really good bat and just needed to stay healthy. He hasn't panned out. Shit happens. Baseball people obviously felt the guy was going to become a really good hitter - he was traded for Cy Young winners twice. It's not like Mets fans just manufactured all this crazy hoopla over him on their own.

Surprised how fast Cespedes is. Two infield singles, that last one I thought was an easy out.

deGrom has been in trouble and still only 65 pitches.??
