Treat a run at 62 by Stanton? Hit his 44th last night and has homered in 6 straight games. He will obviously cool off so may be a moot point but 17 home runs in a month and a half is definitely possible.

So does the hype machine start? Or have the roid era records essentially ruined that chase for us?

They had no problem with steroids when the McGwire/Sosa HR years resurrected baseball revenues after the strike...and they were hitting many of their HRs off pitchers also taking PEDs, any attempt to discount their achievements is inherently debatable

For all of us fans, of course we're each free to view it as we like - I think Stanton chasing 60+ would be pretty cool...incredible tear he's on

if he does it in 154 games against white pitchers only.

It has been a treat to watch him mash these home runs. Power like Judge, but a completely different kind of swing and hits more line drives that are absolute rockets.

I think it is a great thing for MLB and its image

to have young superstars hitting HRs in droves; particularly if they are all free of the juice.
