I'd like to see him end his era on an up note (and it seems like every other Bond movie he does is a good one). Now they gotta find a good director/script.

He was outstanding in Layer Cake and Munich as well. Easily the best Bond as to what I want to see from the character.

I didn't like that he didn't tag team the Dutch assassin with Bana before killing her. That was just unrealistic.

Jack Huston (Richard Harrow) has apparently moved up the successor rumor ranks, fwiw. Fassbender always made the most sense to me, but he'll be 40 before long. Hardy falls from the Layer Cake tree as well.
