First things first, I am here to take my lumps after my thread yesterday. Was pumped for the game, and I went a little over-the-top. DeGrom was shaky last night and the Yankees took advantage. Last night was my first trip to Yankee Stadium. I must admit, it is a beautiful stadium. The atmosphere was great, and all the Yankee fans were very nice and respectful to us Mets fans (so good natured ribbing of course).
My impressions of the Stadium:
1.) The stadium again is beautiful. The facilities were great as well too. Not a lot of long lines for the bathrooms and food. There was a VERY long line to get into the stadium before the game though. They could do better in streamlining that.
2.) Food and beer options were excellent! Had Blue Point Toasted Lager all night.
3.) Parking was nearly as bad as I imagined it would be. I found a parking garage near the court house and was back in Jersey in half an hour.
4.) Sight lines are excellent. Could see everything, and I was way up there.
5.) The stadium seemed dark. Citi field seems much lighter and brighter.
6.) A little put off by the flashing lights after every home run. Felt like a rave was about to start.
7.) Don't like the Yankee PA announcer at all. I know no one is Bob Shepherd, but man this new guy sucks.
8.) On the way out the escalator broke. Never saw that at Citi Field.
Overall, I still prefer Citi Field over Yankee Stadium. I know I am biased, but the food is better at Citi Field, it is much brighter, and the escalators don't break at Citi Field. However, obviously, the better team plays at Yankee Stadium.
I always go there all high and end up getting brother jimmys bbq slider bucket with fries and a cola for $20. Best deal in the stadium imo.
Lobel's is fantastic though. Just always a line and brother Jimmie is good to me

a Lobel's steak sandwich, then you did it wrong.

You smoke weed? No way, bro!
That's a little harsh hehe

All in good fun.
On a nice afternoon, I would much rather see a game at Citi Field over Yankee Stadium. Citi Field is a ballpark. There's more open air, it feels more like being outside, and it was just a far more pleasant experience for watching the game.
Glad I went.
LOL
I went there for the first time last month and it was like sitting in a mass of billboards

and it so fucking corporate. It's really sickening. It didn't seem right when I was there.

...and Citi is literally one giant billboard for the bank.
As for the OP - i think Yankee Stadium is much brighter than Citi. Weird observation. Citi is all dark green and black. Yankee is white and grey/concrete.
Also - much less corporate this year. The new bars/hangout areas have made it so much younger and more lively.
The new Yankee Stadium was nice but felt too corporate and bland. Just generic gray color everywhere among all the billboards, wish they would have had more colors or pin stripes patterns to break up that gray scale color tone they went for.
Although awesome job on the Monuments Park and museum (loved seeing all the historic championships lined up together by year), great way to showcase their and baseball's vast history.
It's a very nice ballpark and in line with what I'm sure the Yankees ownership wanted with all the corporate luxury boxes and club seats. Although tough to compare that with Citi Field. For all the warts the Wilpon's have as the Mets owners, they really did an amazing job with creating an Ebbet's Field like exterior. Smart choice to make all the seats in the park green (nod to the Polo Grounds). Plus nice touches with the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

Citi is not all dark green and black anymore. It sounds like you haven't been there in 5-6 years. It's much more vibrant now than it was when it opened.
There are so many beautiful parks around the league now. There are so many I want to visit.
Yankees>>Mets
Yankee fans>>Mets fans
Judge>>Conforto
Didi>>Rosario
Mets fans on bbi are cry babies
This is now once again a Yankees town after being a Mets town for 2 hours
Enough of ALL RISE!...Enough of Gary Sanchize!..Enough of feeling like second class citizens. THIS IS OUR CITY TONIGHT!! LETSSSS GOOOO!!!!

I feel like so many of the parks are cookie-cutter. Is there really that much of a difference between what's in Philly, Washington DC or Cleveland? One of the best things about Yankee Stadium and Citifield is that they aren't ripoffs of Camden Yards. For me, it might be more interesting to see unloved newer ones like what the Marlins have...or some of the older ones like the Skydome or where the A's play. Obviously visits to spots like Fenway, Wrigley are musts for baseball fans.
That's because the Yankees retire the number of every player that ever gave a handjob to a Steinbrenner
I prefer Citi as a field, but I'm just thankful new Yankee Stadium did not turn out like Met Life.

I actually haven't been to YS2 yet. Would like to check it out one of these days. I went to the old one a bunch of times - great park.

Yeah, I get it - I haven't been to any of the new parks besides Citi Field, so I don't know how cookie-cutter they are or aren't - but I've heard a lot of them are really nice.
Obviously Wrigley and Fenway are awesome for historic reasons but probably much less comfortable to kick back and watch a game at.
I hate the way the Marlins park looks on TV - the whole aquatic/neon theme is hideous, IMO. It's probably not terrible in person, though.
I'd love to go to Coors or SafeCo. People rave about PNC, too.
Metlife was destined to suck as soon as the Jets became equal partners with the Giants. Would've been great if they got the stadium on the westide of Manhattan or near Citi-Field which was reported as a possibility, but Woody refused. Ugh.
Went a few weeks ago and it seemed many fewer beer and food choices versus my last visit two years prior.
best stadium I've been to easily for pure stadium experience.
Cheap (walked up got tickets for $35 a handful of rows behind the dugout), the scenery is incredible, and saw Ken Griffey Jr pinch hit in one of his final games, not a ballpark food eater, but the beer selection was very nice and affordable.
Fenway is still the best park for total experience (outside the game) the park is a shit hole, the seats are tiny, and there are awful sight lines, but outside the stadium is so much fun and activity.
Wrigley is close.
Camden Yards has some nice bars close by (Pickels pub? Sliders?) I lived in NoVa for a few years and frequented Camden.
I agree with most of the comments on the New Yankee Stadium and Citi field. I've only been to citi field once so far and I think I like it so much because Shea was a cookie cutter dump.
And although the new Yankee stadium might seem corporate, there was not a lot of post-game options at the old Yankee Stadium other than Stan's and the bowling alley.
My first game ever was the old Yankee Stadium, my father (as Ive mentioned a diehard Yankees fan) picked me up one random week day afternoon and said get your glove we're going to see the Yankees and he drove to the stadium from New Haven. They played the California Angels and Reggie Jackson hit a triple. He was my favorite player at the time (wssn't he everyones?), so I had a little bit of nostalgia for old Yankee stadium I never had for Shea even as a Mets fan.
The best part of Shea was during my 20's a buddy of mine worked at a hedge fund and would get us access to the diamond club and seats with the players families. I sat in front of Carlos Beltran's family one game and next to Cliff Floyd's father and son at another game. He doesn't have that same connection at Citi Field.
I've only been to Citi for soccer and it seems nice enough.
Back in the day, besides the old YS and Shea, got to the Polo Grounds (to see the Mets), the old Connie Mack stadium in Philly, Wrigley and Fenway before their modifications. Haven't really kept up with new stadiums outside of NYC much.

yea ok
The fucking worst. Tropicana Field is better.
There are a few things I really like about the new stadium. For instance, if you buy something to eat, you can sit at the field level where there are seats with side tables for your food as you eat. That was nice. Secondly, the bathrooms are exponentially better than the old stadium. Monument park is nicer, although I didn't go down because the waiting line was insane. The hallways and food stands are far superior to the old stadium. I was surprised that I did not hear the old "GET YOUR HOT DOGS HEERAH - HOT DOGS HEEEER" and "COLD BEER HEEEERAH, COLD BEER" and there were no rude ushers. Makes me wonder if it was a conscious decision to get rid of it. Very surprising. I expected a bit of a change at the 7th inning stretch, but it was the same only with better audio. I was surprised that the field crew still do the YMCA dance after all these years.
I have mixed feelings about the techno-audio/visual stuff that kind of overwhelms the actual game. Reminded me of part rock concert, part ball game.
I took my 16 year old grandson with me for his first ever Yankee game and he was blown away and said it was the best time he ever had in his life. And ultimately, it was a choice to have a bonding moment with him while I'm still alive and he's young enough to appreciate hanging out with his grandfather. Apart from Chapman blowing the lead, it was a great game.
I showed this picture of my grandson and me in the Sunday game thread, but I'll repost it. It was a great, great time
Holy ****.
1) You and I agree
2) You actually have been to Pittsburgh?
3) You actually LIKE something about Pit?
It seems very dark, like a dome.
Looks like it is too 'depressed' in the ground.
I think NYS looks beautiful, but to me, it's more of a mix between a mall and monument, upper deck is too far removed, and the caste system stinks.
PNC is the best, every ballpark needs to be a ballpark. PNC feels like a park in the city.
The best stadium I have ever been to hands down is Coors. Great park. Went there a few years after it was opened and back then every game sold out. They would put a few hundred seats in the "rock pile" the elevated CF bleachers on sale about 4 hours or so before the game. We grabbed a pair and it was an awesome place to watch the game from. with all do respect to the bridges of Pittsburgh, hard to beat the view of the sun setting over the orange and purple Rockies...
