NFT: Game of Thrones S7E6: Death is the Enemy - Pregame Thread

Big Blue Blogger : 8/16/2017 12:26 pm
Winter is here, heralded by ravens and a boatload of leaks - including the brief, accidental release of Episode Six by HBO in Europe. If you have already seen bits (or all) of E6, beyond official trailers and stills, please respect the wishes of those who want to remain spoiler-free.

So the A-Team embarks from Eastwatch on a fateful hunting expedition. Zombie mayhem ensues, with the Night's King in command. Who returns alive, and do they achieve their goal?

Meanwhile, on the near side of the Wall, the preview offers...

... Tyrion and Daenerys exchanging another round of baleful glances. Why so glum?

... Arya noting Sansa's fear. Is that a trace of sisterly empathy from our favorite assassin, or contempt?

... No sign of Bran or Baelish, though they doubtless figure in whatever's up with the Stark girls.

... Nothing at all from King's Landing. Maybe the Lannisters take a week off to plan a baby shower while the Army of the Dead thins Dany's ranks.

I created a seperate spoilers thread for S7E6
NYG27 : 8/16/2017 2:45 pm : link
I clearly marked it as Spoilers in both the title and original post on the thread.

Since several BBIers have already seen it, they can discuss it there if they wanted to.

I accidently clicked on that thread thinking it was this one at first. But I quickly saw all the **Spoilers** warning before seeing anything else, so thank you for labeling it like that.

Not sure how exactly, the identity of the the Night's King from what I've read is sketchy, but Old Nan would tell Bran that the Night's King was a Stark from Winterfell and his name was Brandon.

My thought wa if he could warg into all of them at once and "shut them down" back to corpses, then only the Walkers would be left and the heroes can do the rest. I admit it is a very far fetched theory.

Warging into the Night King is interesting though

There's an interesting theory that leads to Bran being the night king

So the theory states he goes back to the moment the night king was created, wargs into the man.... tries to explain what will happen and why they shouldn't do this... they call bull shit and do it anyways leaving bran as the night king...

Pretty long shot but interesting nonetheless
I finally caught up...

It's a bit repetitive and the episodes get way too long, but it's an entertaining listen on a commute or the treadmill. The guy does some hilarious impressions...

Anytime, last thing I want to do is ruin an awesome episode like that and put several "Spoiler" warnings before we started the discussion to give people who accidentally open it a chance to leave without reading anything.

With the leaked 7x04, that was released on Friday and it was easier to wait just two days to avoid spoilers and watch on Sunday.

But with 7x06, damn HBO's affiliate in Spain leaked it out on Monday. There are a TON of spoilers everywhere from the net, youtube and facebook......and it's only Wednesday. Which is why I gave in and watched the episode now. No way I'd last to Sunday without accidentally running into any more plot spoilers.
I only have a work laptop

That would also make a lot of sense. It's seems like the Night King has always been one step ahead of Bran in their visions. So this theory would help prove that since the Night King would always know what to expect since he first lived those experiences as Bran and always know a counter for all of Bran's moves.

Plus also explain how in episode 6x05 Meera was able to drag Bran away without getting caught by all the Night Kings wrights. I know that Hodor and Uncle Benjen helped but if this theory is correct, the Night King would want Meera to get away and help Bran cross the Wall or he'd never exist.

Not to even mention why the Night King has always looked at Jon with a special interest. If it is Bran, then of course he'd look with interest with what Jon is doing since it is his brother.

Actually first cousin, Bran knows Jon's true identity.

Right?

Surprised Bran hasn't done more to communicate that.

pjcas18, I still consider Bran and Jon to be brothers
NYG27 : 8/16/2017 6:00 pm : link
If they grew up thinking and being brothers for all these years, I doubt knowing Jon is actually his first cousin would change the way they look at each other. Same with Arya's view point of Jon, since they were so close with each other.

Sansa on the other hand would look at Jon differently as a cousin and use that information to become the rightful heir to Winterfell.

Dave, that news is nothing to Sam at this point in time. From what Sam knows, Jon is still Ned Stark's bastard son. If when Sam gets back to Winterfell and finds out the truth about Jon, hopefully he can recall Gillie's comments and have to proof to back it up from all those books he stole from the Citadel.

I guess I agree from an emotional standpoint.

I think Sansa feels differently about him anyway because he's a bastard.

He may not have to, maybe Littlefinger kills him and unwittingly saves the realm.

No one likes to see the disabled get attacked but it would show just how low Littlefinger would stoop to achieve more.

I don't think Bran kills himself.

The fact Old Nan told him the Night's King name is Brandon Stark can't be merely coincidental. Or could it?

go to reddit and look on r/freefolk

careful though, that's a splinter group from the game of thrones sub-reddits that don't bend the knee. they don't give a shit about spoilers, book info, links to streams & torrents, ect. right now the front page is basically all Episode 6 related.

Lot's of links in the 2nd thread. Don't know the quality or how long they'll remain active. I found it on my own, but it's a good place to start your search.

If the show runs true to form, Tormund won't die yet.
Big Blue Blogger : 8/17/2017 12:45 am : link
He and Brienne need to do the nasty first. I'm sort of hoping the show-runners take that one offscreen. Thoros and Beric are the obvious candidates to die, since the audience has no reason to care about them. But they seem to have a place in the Red God's plan to save the world. Maybe they hand off that mission to the Hound? Personally, I'm worried for Jorah. Like Tormund and Jon, he has unfinished romantic business. Unlike them, he has zero chance of ever finishing it. So, from HBO's perspective, if he can't f*ck, he might as well die in a snow-blind zombie apocalypses. In that sense, he's the real eunuch, not Varys and certainly not Grey Worm.
Why are people so worried about the leaks?

The point is its not good enough to just avoid Reddit. There are assholes everywere. As it has already happened here, I don't get why you don't get why people are "worried"...
The Star Wars spoiler was the reason
Mike from Ohio : 8/17/2017 8:45 am : link
I broke down and watched the episode last night. I figured it was only a matter of time until some BBI troll did the same thing with the GoT episode.

The links posted last night in this thread worked great. Streamed the show in HD on my phone and used AirPlay to put it on the TV and the quality was excellent. Having said that, I am getting out of this thread to avoid accidentally saying anything.
It's not only Reddit and BBI you have to worry about
NYG27 : 8/17/2017 8:55 am : link
I had potential Spoilers pop up on both my YouTube and Facebook feeds. I also had a few work colleagues also discuss the episode and I had ask them to move to a conference room so that those who hadn't seen it yet wouldn't hear spoilers. That's why I decided to cave in and watch it yesterday.

I'm online all day long, checking my email, BBI, and do what I do for work. If you stick to that the only thing that can spoil it for you is an asshole on BBI which is obviously possible. But there have been leaks since last year (including the entire plot for season 7), this current leak isn't anything new other than its the show which you have to seek out.

I get it, its annoying. But don't google it, don't go on reddit, and hopefully BBI doesn't spoil it for you.

That is a good point. I'm not on FB anymore so maybe that's why I'm not overly concerned. But yeah, FB is terrible with spoilers. One guy I know spoiled the Red Wedding a few years back and everyone absolutely lambasted him. That wasn't the sole reason I got off FB but it was a factor.

If you have an iPhone, all you need is to download the Documents app. Open up the web browser in that app and copy and paste this web address.

http://en.savefrom.net/1-how-to-download-youtube-video/

It allows you to download video content to your iPhone from YouTube to others, just need a direct link to the video you want. For Game of Thrones, use this address....

https://storage.googleapis.com/borutosub/Player/khel%20gaddi%20ka/gaddi%20pe%20raj%207-6.mp4

It's not a perfect 1080 HD but pretty close and very good video and audio. Once the video is on your iPhone, there are ways to either sync it with your HDTV (google them) or just download it to a USB drive and connect it to your HDTV's USB port.
