NFT: Mock Knicks trade for fun

Earl the goat : 8/16/2017 9:07 pm
Melo to Houston for Capela and Anderson
Melo waives his trade kicker and salaries are very close to matching

Ntilikina and Lee and Oquinn plus 2019 and 2021 unprotected picks for Kyrie and he has to agree to contract extension with Knicks

Ryan Anderson to Orlando for Bismarck Biyombi

Play out the year with Noah and then in 2018 stretch provision his remains 35 million. 5 years 7 million cap relief

Bismarck gives Knicks an athletic defensive rebounding player
Anderson gives magic the ability to hit the 3 to stretch the floor

Lance Thomas and future 2nd round pick to philly for Justin Anderson

Knicks lineup

Capela
KP
Beasley
Hardaway
Kyrie

Bench
Wily
Biyombi
Kuz
Dotson
Sessions. Baker

In my dreams but not bad for a wannabe Knicks GM
Meant to add in Anderson instead of kuz
Earl the goat : 8/16/2017 9:09 pm : link
Sorry
Why does Orlando take Anderson?

My point on earlier thread
Carl in CT : 8/16/2017 9:25 pm : link
You would have to add Capela with Frank +. Then you build around KP & Kyrie. Keep the future firsts.

At no point ever will kyrie be a knick for anything but k p. And the knicks would be idiots to do that
Why do I feel like the Knicks are the only idiot team
PhiPsi125 : 8/16/2017 9:53 pm : link
that gives unprotected picks. It seems like nearly all trades picks have some type of protection. Am I off on this and unprotected picks are more common?

They're not common. Brooklyn traded a 2018 unprotected to boston. Sacto traded an unprotected 2019 to Philly.
Capela
Enzo : 8/17/2017 8:14 am : link
is not enough to offset Anderson's negative value. And Frank and two unprotected #1s is too much for Kyrie. I doubt anyone else is offering that much at this point.
Oh man
YAJ2112 : 8/17/2017 8:30 am : link
that was so much fun. Not sure I can top that this week. Maybe if I go watch my grass grow.
Capela
TyreeHelmet : 8/17/2017 8:38 am : link
Rockets aren't trading Capela for Melo. I am a huge Melo fan but that makes the rockets worse. Capela is very important for what they do.

Im not sure where you get the authority to speak so authoritatively. In particular, I could see Kyrie traded here after the season for less than KP.

eh, wouldn't surprise me to see Morey sell high on him before they have to pay him.
I think Capela/Anderson would do more
Deej : 8/17/2017 9:08 am : link
to help HOU win this season than Melo would. Melo is a better player, but HOU needs defense and rebounding and center minutes. And Capela is a very good PnR big, which HOU wants to run. Anderson's contract sucks, but HE doesnt suck. He's a useful stretch 4.
I agree
Pep22 : 8/17/2017 9:38 am : link
w/ Deej that it can be annoying when people speak with such conviction or authority on a topic where us as fans are just speculating.

I also agree that it isn't likely that a deal structured on Capela/Anderson for Melo will fly w HOU.

But I do think a deal may be modified to include Hernangomez.

If the NYK could get Ariza/Gordon for salary purposes + Capela + Troy Williams in exchange for Melo/WH, the Knicks would be better off than any deal I've seen proposed thus far. To have a youthful foundation of KP, CC, TW, DD, THJ, FN and even RB and have trade chips of Ariza + Gordon or Lee, that is the way to properly start the post Melo era. I understand Capela will need to be paid next summer, but so be it.

I love WH but I do wonder if he and KP will be able to coexist especially defensively. Getting a defensive stud like Capela solves a lot of defensive concerns.
Hernangomez
DanMetroMan : 8/17/2017 9:50 am : link
has less value to the Rockets than the Knicks. He's a lotto ticket/spec buy. Capela is a NOW player. Cost of the 2 players has no relevance for the Rockets, they are trying to win THIS year. Hernangomez is a below average defender. I don't think the Rockets would even consider this and I'm not even sure the Knicks would be over the moon excited knowing Capela's future deal will be massive. I say that as maybe the first person on here who advocated dealing for Capela way back when.

I believe hitdog has a friend in the Cavs front office (I believe that is what he said, I might be wrong).
I think WH
Pep22 : 8/17/2017 9:54 am : link
has major value to HOU. His elite hands (for catching in PNR situations), ability to finish with the off hand, pass well and rebound at a high level make him a very good fit.

Ok and lets see what happens next summer if Lebron leaves and Kyrie makes it clear, Paul George style, that he's a goner. What if Willy is a 16 and 11 center with defense rounding into form? What if Frank looks surprisingly good early on? What if the Knicks have a top 5 pick to dangle?

The notion that "At no point ever will kyrie be a knick for anything but k p." as hitdog says is just dumb.

I agree with Dan. Capela and Willy have more value to their current teams than they would to the opposite teams if traded for eachother.
How do figure
Pep22 : 8/17/2017 10:03 am : link
WH is a better front court partner to KP than CC?
It's not dumb

Its the truth- just like around the deadline with melo and the cavs last year it was the truth.
Apologies for having facts instead of dumb trade ideas and incorrect opinions

I worked very hard on my dumb trade ideas, thank you very much!

the Woj piece on Irving
Enzo : 8/17/2017 10:22 am : link
had all kinds of weird stuff in it. He puts Jamal Murray in the same grouping as KP, Josh Jackson, and Tatum. He says that if LeBron were willing to commit to the Cavs long-term, then the Spurs would be in the mix for Irving - presumably with something like LMA, Parker, and Danny Green. That's an awful return IMO. Cavs are rightfully asking for the moon right now, but market conditions may dictate otherwise.
The basketball season got so much better this offseason
adamg : 8/17/2017 10:25 am : link
I can't wait to see Kyrie suiting up to play next to Lebron come October...
Absolutely no way Kyrie agrees to an extension.
Section331 : 8/17/2017 10:35 am : link
Why would he? Since NYK were one of his target teams, I think the Knicks would be confident they could sign him long term when his deal was up. He is not giving up potential max money by extending now.

I believe the rules on extensions have changed. You can still get mega bucks if you re-up early. Guys like Westbrook, Harden, and Wall have done it. But I think you need to make all-nba or some nonsense like that to get the highest amounts.

Your truth is actually a prediction of the future based on imperfect information, including Kyrie's demands, what the Knicks have to offer, and timing.

You're telling me that if Kyrie demands out next summer, Lebron walks, and the Knicks have the #1 or #2 overall pick, that Cleveland doesnt listen to an offer based around the pick, possibly plus Frank or Willy?

That's not the "truth". That's just a prediction. Not even the Cavs' GM knows what he's going to have to consider on Kyrie next summer, or in a year and a half.
You really are bored dude
hitdog42 : 8/17/2017 12:22 pm : link
To take statements then create a new context to them- so that you can argue.
Fans threw around love/Melo ideas for weeks- facts were zero chance.
Fans have thrown around kyrie trades for weeks not including kp. Chances are zero-
If you want to throw around future hypotheticals unrelated to anything anyone has discussed in an effort to try to make my comments seem offbase--- then pls enjoy wasting your time
