My grandfather passed away on Saturday at the ripe old age of 97. Some of my fondest memories of watching Giants games are with him. We were very close and I simply wanted to honor him by posting this picture of him at the end of WWII.
Looks like a cool guy in that picture and god bless him living 97 years. My dads 91 and we still watch the games on Sunday and I dread the day that ends.
You grandfather looks like a very impressive person not to mention a well built individual. From the greatest generation this country has ever seen. May he Rest In Peace
Looks like he had a full life. 97 - Wow. My dad was also in WWII and is in his 90's and not doing all that well. I don't think he'll reach 97. But you never know. There are fewer and fewer WWII vets left and the time will come (probably in the next 15 years or so) when there are no more of them left. They certainly were the greatest generation.
when i was 16. Instilled my love for the giants and was a WW2 in hell. Miss him every day. May your grandfather RIP and hoping yours and mine can have a drink up there and reminisce about the giants.
I look at a photo like that and wonder, where was his mind that day? Fascinated by that sort of thing ... where was he going, what was he doing? That 1-second was just a sliver of that entire day, and that era of a nearly-century-long life. Crazy.
So sorry for your loss. May your grandfahter rest in peace.
I thank him for his service and will say a prayer in his honor and memory
97 is a great run, hopefully you get some of that DNA.
I am sorry for your loss.
I hope the memories you have sustain you and provide comfort in time.
Agreed nice photo.
