For those at camp ... I keep reading about him practicing fast ... Is he in the right spot, running the right routest and making the needed adjustments as expected (ie he has a firm grasp of the playbook, reads/hot routes and terminology). Seems like he is not making a lot of rookie mistakes from a technical standpoint ... Is the case from on-site reviews or just positive cherry picking in the write-ups?
The only "negative" I am hearing about is his blocking which has not been all negative ... just he is not a physical force which is to be expected with his size and body type.
Give EE a year or 2 before we judge him.
We are lucky GMs couldn't think outside the box and viewed him as an "undersized TE" rather than an athletic freak of nature who is a willing blocker and has the intelligence/work ethic to improve
even if he doesn't improve - he does things most TE aren't capable of. i view him as a "weapon" - i don't care what position he lines up at.
Exhibit A - ( New Window )
Actually, at 6'3" 236 lbs he shouldn't be expected to be a that much of a physical force because he really doesn't have that kind of size and body type. Every other TE on the roster is a least 6'5" and 250 lbs.
