0-2 with a SO. He was limited to 5 innings. I didn't see the game, but there is probably a lot of rust that needs to be knocked off. I wonder where Austin fits in. They already have a 1st base platoon, and I don't really see him in the OF rotation. DH maybe?
since he hasn't been optioned to AAA for 10 days. So his getting called up has to be due to someone going on DL. The big question is who is that?
My guess is Chapman. And rather than bring up another relief pitcher, we're adding another bat in a National League park where an extra pinch-hitter may come in handy.

I thought this was a great opportunity to put Chapman on the DL. He has an ERA over 6 against Boston. It's not like the Yanks don't have anyone else who cannot close.
starts his rehab at A-Tampa tomorrow. Castro starts his at AAA-SWB tomorrow. With Castro, Holliday, and Bird all in rehab, hopefully we can soon get a little more pop into the line-up.
hope that when they bring Holliday back up he shows that he can hit hit again. The Holiday that came back from his previous DL stint clearly was not ready.
Unless his glove is that important for us, there's no reason not to keep Cooper, Headley, Bird, Andujar
Frazier plays a gold glove 3rd base. He is not hitting but makes up for it defensively.. the guy that should be DFA is Holliday I am not giving up on Frazier just yet for a guy who can't stay healthy,
Yeah, not sure I understand this move. Nothing against Austin but I don't think he is an upgrade from Cooper from what I have seen so far.
Yeah that's true.
I'm overreacting a bit
Austin is not a true 1B imo he's another refsnyder
get the 40 man rotation ready for September.
Why not DFA Holliday. At least Fraziers glove has some utility. Plenty of DH options better than him at this point

No need to DFA anybody! All are on the 40 & rosters expand September 1st!

Why play Austin over Cooper, though?

I agree. But if that was the assumption if they were going to dump
Someone he makes more sense than Frazier to me. That's all

bring up Austin so you can send him back down when Bird is ready, hopefully in a few days. No additional analysis necessary.

Cooper went on the DL, that's why Austin came up.

Yeah, hamstrung by Cashman and Joe!
