Has the size of a lb, the speed of a db and is used to covering TEs and backs since he has been playing safety
This actually isn't a crazy idea - Mark Barron made this transition quite well a couple years ago. The problem is that Pinkins doesn't move fluidly and might have trouble swiveling in higher traffic areas in the middle of the field.
under the radar injuries that could have a big impact. He's the MIKE LB in the nickel and dime packages and we really don't have anyone else who plays that position

Exactly. The problem is that Pinkins' biggest weakness is the task you're asking him to do.
for a cornerback, but the standards are very different than for a LB'er.
And if Bromley / Tomlinson work out and Goodson is stronger than shepard was ....then we have enough bulk up front to afford an ex Safety as the WIL.
Pinkins should be seeing TE's not WR's. I think that's one of those crazy moves that might make us better. When the core's this strong everything works.
Don't know much about this , but back in protocol that quickly?

It doesn't look like he has concussion history. Maybe it's a precaution. Maybe he just isn't ready.
Or...maybe you're right. Let's hope the docs do right by him.
If anything for his long term health it's good we went back in if he wasn't right.
Without being overly dramatic, if this doesn't clear the best thing is an extended or complete break from the game.
How about Pinkins?

Someone else needs to step up in that area

Pinkins might look a step slow covering wr's but covering TEs and Rbs might be right in his wheelhouse.
Perhaps Spags elects going more with a Big Three Safety package with Pinkins taking on the TE
